Saw this at the local Fish store today, knew it was a ribbit fish, couldnt really tell much else (they change color when under stress at the LFS).

Got home looked him up and man...what a beautiful Rabbit Fish. The had two in very good shape. $49.00

But i was there to get a bristle tooth tang and since i didnt know what this fish really was, passed it up...... I came home with a Tommi Tang and a tiny little clown to mate up with my exsisting, also tiny clown...

I seriously want to go back and get him, problem is..... I just put in a tiny clown and a Tommi tang in my 120G thats only been set up a month...

Adding both of these at the same time could probably stress the tank.

Anyone have experience with these fish? Anyone think i could get away with getting it now? (tank parameters are all perfect of course but......... they say go slow).

Algae eating machines that are mostly reef safe. They also get fairly large. I've been waiting forever for my lfs to get one, I know I can get one online but I really like to see my fish before I purchase them.

As a suggestion, why dont you put a deposit on the fish and ask the lfs to hold him for you for a couple of weeks while your tank adjust to the latest additions.

Havent decided what to do. For a 4 week old tank i already have 2 small clowns, a small chromis, a rull grown royal gramma and now this tommi tang in there, along with 3 snails and a finger leather coral.

Again, the finger leather has never looked better (pulled out of my 40G cube) and the parameters are all zero but im afraid i would be flirting with disaster by adding yet another fish in a 4 week old tank.

Im still trying to acclimate the Tommi, he hid all day yesterday but he is out picking at the rocks this morning...very skiddish still. I put a strip of marine algae in there on a clip near his cave to see if he will take to it...nothing so far.

I may or may not go back by the fish store today to see abou tthem holding it for me..... I may have to pass on this but im really not sure what to do, 2 weeks ago they had 3 koles and i really wanted one...didnt want to put it in the 40g and them move it and just passed, they sold fast but im not too upset about ending up with the Tommi instead.

I have two bar Rabbitfish (Siganus Virgatus) in every tank I've owned. They are good algae eaters (they don't eat bryopsis though) and have a great personality. They are beautiful fish but be advised their spines are poisionous (painful if they pierce you). They use this as protection when scared or threatened by another fish so be careful when you're 'in the tank' ... they are not aggresive unless provoked (like when my Clown Tang tries to start something). Very hearty, fun and beautiful. Eats like a horse... will overeat and have to purge if he eats too much (which the other fish live for) :)

Thanks... I had a fox face once upon a time in a too small 65G. He had a good personality as well. I was never stung but im sure i will be one day. I updated my sig to show some specs of my tank.

I have had one in my tank for nearly 3 years. she's grown and become more beautiful. The spines and the color change are great warnings to the other fish. I've had no prob
