I have a closed loop on my 29. Some folks sort of made fun of it or implied that it was over kill, but it made a very nice improvement in my tank. I think you will really like it too.
A little tip, if you off-set the pump in relation to the output ports you can create an inbalance in the flow. This is neat in that you can then keep higher flow guys on one side and milder flow on the other. Otherwise make sure that the pump is more or less center of the out put ports to get a more even flow.
