thought about buying one for my 40 gallon breeder i have a 500gph pump in the sump i know it will cut down flow iam hope the pump i have is good enough.

I have one on my 29 and love it. its the smaller of the two (3/4"ports)
I am also running about 600 gal or so on it. The maker claims about a 20% loss due to head pressure. I am a poor judge of such things but that seems about right.

I made a copy of what Melev did on his website and it works pretty good.

This summer I am thinking of drilling the tank to try a different layout suggested by a pal. but for now am happy with the product

btw: the sps corals really took a nice jump from the alternating flow rather than constant

hope that helped

i have my pump in the sump about closed half way now so if i put the scwd on i most likely have it wide open for the loss of gph.and the reason i have the pump cut back now is the water was way to much comming into the sump sound like a waterfall.

I have used one in my fuge to move water in different areas instead of a constant flow. I bought a spare a couple years ago and never hooked it up. I haven't had the first one go bad yet and it has been 3+ yrs. If you want the spare one for $25 let me know.

I have one in my main tank and really like it! It creates nice swirling current as it flows against my other powerheads and the switching keeps things random. I run a Mag 12 return pump pretty much wide open.

I am also going to be using one of these on my new tank. 75 gallon. I currently have two tunze 6025 that are modded so they put out about the flow of the 6045's. I think it claims 1100 gph or so. I have no idea how accurate this is. What return pump should I use for the sump area. I would also T of the return for a calcium reactor one day. The skimmer will be on its own pump. I was thinking a mag 7 or 9.5 with the scwd, does this sound about rite? Already allot of flow with the tunze pumps. I want to get into sps. The tank will be mixed.
