SD vs SDHC

Is there a significant difference?

I searched online and basically all I can find is that SDHC just has faster write speeds. Instead of starting at 0 MB/sec and working its way up, it starts at something higher, blah, blah, etc, etc...

I am asking because I have a SD and am wondering if its even a big deal to upgrade to SDHC.

I have one of each (SD=4Gb, SDHC=8Gb), and to be honest don't really notice a difference. If you're going to buy a new card for whatever reason (more space, lost your old one, etc.), you might as well go with the SDHC, but no reason to get one just for the HC, IMHO.

The SDHC will download quicker by a considerable amount. (at least it does on my computer) I replaced all my cards with SDHC and use the SD cards for the photo frames!!

Ok, so if you get home from vacation with hundreds of pictures then it won't take so long to transfer.

I agree kilroy, might as well go with HC when I need a new card.

SDHC is faster AND will be bigger cards. HC stands for high capactity. So if you're buying a new card, you would most likely be getting the SDHC nowadays, but if you havent noticed your SD card being too slow for you, there shouldnt be any need to replace it.

Some older cameras cant use the SDHC, which would be the only reason I can think of for why you wouldnt want to upgrade, but you've already said you've got both and both work so that shouldnt be an issue for you.
