Sea Angel (Clionidae)

While I am organizing photos taken during X'mas vacation, I find one interesting photo. It was taken in Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, Japan. The creature is called sea angel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clionidae

Looks very interesting, like little angel with two wings. I don't have any closeup pictures. Just a photo of the aquarium setup.

This looks like a Kreisel setup which is typically used for pelagic organisms that spend their entire lives in the water column. I think I recall seeing a "pumped up" version of this type of setup at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as part of their sea jellies exhibit awhile back. These setups are also used for rearing pelagic fry, such as some species of seahorses.

I'm surprised that there'd be a big market for this sort of thing since the sea angels have a rather specialized diet and are somewhat fragile. One of these would be comparable to having a single species dedicated high end setup -- pretty to look at but hard to maintain for any length of time. Still, it would be cool to have a setup like this on a test basis to play with...

where was this at? Was it at a store?

It is in the "chocolate factory" of Sapporo. Actually it's nothing to do with aquarium.

Live squid in tank. Found in a small town on the Pacific Ocean side.

I remember several years ago, it was popular to keep samll jellyfish (not in the States). Watch them glow at night after lights out. They die in couple of days due to short life span. Don't know how popular it is to keep sea angles.

Both Jellies and Sea Angels have been popular for some time now, especailly the Jellies. The amount of commercially available products for Jellies is unreal. I've been seeing the Jelly food for like 5 years now, in the states :)
