sea hare id

Parameters are all good
Didn't acclimate for 2 hours though...more like an hour I would say.

I'm in for the long haul

Just hope it was enough.. it might be gowing through stress right now... trying to acclimate it self to your tank.. maybe as to why its not mowing down your HA yet.... mine took a while to eat the HA.. it ate all the caulerpa that came with the TBS rock first then after it finished it went to the HA.

Yeah he's eating it now, I saw him take out a nice patch yesterday and he's all over the live rock now.

2 quick questions:

1) I cleaned my skimmer (remora HOB) and now its pulling a lot of discolored water. I empty it once in the morning and once when I get back from work and put together I'd say put together it would be a full collection cups worth. Should I raise the cup up some or let it keep pulling out this much?

2) Also, I noticed the HA is dying I think! :) Its gotten kinda brown and im not sure if its some other algae outcompeting it or its just die off but I blast it with the turkey baster and some of it definately disintegrates and whats left is clear not green. Either way my zoos looked pretty upset about the whole thing. Is this the normal process for a dying HA outbreak?

Thanks!

Hm, i'm not sure its definately not that bad if thats it. I'll take a pic when I get home and post it. I'll definately know its not just die off of the HA if its all gone and anything remains.

hair algae as it was this afternoon before i blew it off the rocks, im thinking you're right i don't think its just the HA dying off :( tank is closing in on almost a month old now, i hope this algae outbreak stuff ends soon. should i do a water change? i heard with dino. you're not supposed to. is that what this is?

I've been looking for one of these and can't seem to find one. Anyone know who carries these on-line?

Turbo yours looks more like DINOS sorry bro... they start out like that then once get a reall foot hold you will start to see long strings of mucus with a bubble floating in the end of it...

If it truely is, then you would notice your snails and crabs become lathargic... hardly moving and start to drop off the walls... ( TOXINS )

If it is Dino and you are just starting your tank. Turn your lights off for three or four days. If it is Dino the snails will start to do. DO NOT do water changes if you realize it is Dino's. It will make it much worse.

Nothing will eat it. Just kill lights, raise alkalinity, and watch it dissappear.

I also have a Sea Hare and just noticed some bryopsis, hope it goes to town on it. Honestly, one of my favorite tank inhabitants ever. So much personality and if you like big backs, well . . .

thanks guys, i just added my HOB refugium with DSB, chaeto, and LR rubble yesterday. The first night with it setup (last night) I had it on a reverse photoperiod and sure enough this morning just a little but there was brown slime on the chaeto :(

No snails have died yet. Should I do a blackout of the whole tank for a few days? It definately is effected by light as you said, it looks ok when the lights first come on, but then towards the end of the day its definately worse.

I think im going to feed the fish today and do a 2 day blackout of the tank and fuge and hope my zoos, leather frag and chaeto tough it out :( is it helpful to blast it off the rocks with a turkey baster into the water column? is this whole plan my best course of action? good times...

i did a 48 hr blackout and tank looked clear but almost within an hour a few were showing back up on the rocks, not nearly as bad though.

Also, since I added the HOB fuge and have had this issue my tank kinda smells, I never smelled it before unless I practically put my nose in the water. Now if I leave my door closed all day and come into my room when I get home it stinks. Not sure if its the new LR rubble or what :( Also my skimmate is very wet, really just discolored water and smells awful as well. It never smelled good but its much worse than normal.

I guess the next option is a phosban reactor..oh boy more $$!!
