So my new SH is eating Mysid daily... Doing well... Crossing my fingers... I Bought 25 Assorted Hermit Crabs for my tanks... 20 for my 220 Reef and 5 for my Fuge/SH Display...

I dropped 5 Hermits in, and within 5 minutes, the SH was trying to eat the Hermit crabs... I pulled them right out... I presume they can hurt their snout doing this??? I also read that Hermits can irritate SH's when they sleep??

Many SH will snick small hermits into bite-size pieces and eat them. However, I don't trust them with resting SH...I've even had scarlets grab their tails, and scarlets are the most docile of the hermits, so no hermits for us in SH tanks.

I had been under the impression that blue legged hermits were likely acceptable tank mates?

There are people that tell you it's OK to have clowns in with seahorses but most who try find it doesn't work. Some may have to do with individual "character" or "personality".

I used to have a reidi who ate ever blue legged crab that I put in the tank... Her name was "Hunter" :) That's the only horse that I have ever had do that. I like nassius snails as a clean up crew.

Turbos get huge and are pretty clumsy. They also do best with HA as opposed to film algae. Additionally, if you decide to keep live macro, they will likely destroy it, esp. the red macros.

I recommend a mix of Astrea, Trochus, and Nerites for algae, and Nassarius as scavengers.

LOL, my Nerites tend to be suicidal as they think they are trying to get to the next tidal pool and end up on the floor...Weekly I, or my children, find one or more on the floor around the tank and throw them back in.
