My LFS just got two of what I believe to be Cavernularia obesa in today. Does any one know anything about what they like? They seemed to be doing well, as they were opening within minutes of being put in the tank.

Right out of the bag

5 minutes after being placed in deep sand

Any help would be appreciated. I just want to know if it is worth the purchase and what it would take to keep them thriving

They arent mine. Those pics are from the LFS. I cant say where I got them though, unfortunately..

I'm glad this post started. Right now i'm actaully contemplating getting one from my LFS down here and had no clue about them. He himself didnt know much about them cause they were not in his order shipment. Somehow it came. I myself would like to know more about survival rates of it cuase i'll really like to know more aout it

I dont know much about them personally, but they are in the "Corals" book by Julian Sprung.

I've have one that's about 10" tall. I feed him phytofeast, rotifeast, oysterfeast and reef Roids. The substrate is about 6 in of mineral mud.

My boyfriend has one in his 300 gallon and its been doing great! His had it for a long time now. It opens up when the lights are on.

Ive had on in my tank for two years, It appears at day and stay out with good PE for most of the light cycle. Ive gone months without feeding it and it was fine, but since Ive been spot feeding my own blend of food, I squirt it weekly, and honest I see no difference. Just be sure to have 4 to 6 inches of sugar size sand for it to bury in. It will completely disappear into it, and if its not happy it will float around till it finds a hold, or more likely, you bury it down.

They are pretty rare in home aquariums, so if you see it and can support it, then I would recommend buying it.
