Reef Central will not allow someone to refer to a nationality as "scum." Refer to the poachers as scum, but stay away from referencing an entire nation's inhabitants.

In fact, keep your "asians with miles long nets" and "French trying to get back on our good side" comments to yourself as well. RC is a global community and we have long-standing rules against demeaning comments and political posts. Posts in this thread have crossed the line several times.

Well I'm for sure not telling anyone now. Its nothing bad though, just something I thought funny.

Someone mentioned netting impacting turtles. On the Atlantic coast (and also the Gulf iirc) shrimp netting was killing so many turtles that they passed a law. All shrimp trawlers have "turtle devices" in the nets now, that use some wizardry (big hole) to let the unfortunate and unwanted turtles escape the nets. There is still a retarded amount of bycatch and habitat destruction from trawling, but I do loves me some shrimps. Shrimp trawling is a case of "everything in moderation" gone terribly wrong. And before you start yelling about aquaculturing shrimp, you might do some reading about the effect those farms have in SE Asia. Also, as any real Southerner can tell you, fresh caught Carolina shrimp are far better tasting than both gulf and the farmed varieties.

Mmm shrimp. Wait... were we talking about turtles?
