About a month ago a few of us were discussing Seachem Matrix Carbon and maybe a group buy. I would like to put this together if we have some interest in it.
** Details **
According to the manufacturer claims, 5L should be enough to treat 100 gallons for about a year, and this is probably conservative since they want you to buy more
We will be buying in increments of 20 liters which will be split into "units" of 4 liters. The cost for 20 liters is $179 which includes shipping, call it an even $180. This comes out to $9 a liter ($36 a unit)
Most online vendors sell the 4L buckets for $70 shipped, works out to $17.50 per liter at that rate, hence this group buy is almost a 50% savings.
No, this is not cheap carbon, however I will never use generic/bulk carbon again after having a bad experience. I have been using Seachem and prefer it for a number of reasons. That's a personal choice, so this thread is for anyone who is interested in getting in on *this* group buy for *this* product.
** Pricing **
To recap, a "unit" is 4 liters and costs $36. I'm willing to take as many as 2 units. To get this going we need to find a home for at least 3 more units. If we can find a home for another 8 units then the price drops to $35/unit. Here is the link to where I plan to purchase it: http://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/product_info.php?language=en¤cy=USD&products_id=1352
** Payment **
I would like to place the order soon so everyone can get their carbon at the Feb. meeting, or pickup from me sometime after that. I will pay for the order but will require participants to send their portion to me via paypal before I place the order. If you're interested just PM me or reply here and I will PM you my paypal address.
