Anyone using Saechem Reef salt?
If so,likes/dislikes
Getting ready to place a salt order and usually use Reef Crystals.

Anyone swithc from RC and notice a improvement or lack of?

Seachem reef I think is the best salt out there at an affordable price. Buffers out nice and full of trace elements.

If you like high 560+ppm Ca then Seachem is the salt . I had to go back using IO to slowly bring my calcium down. I can always add more which is easier than trying to reduce.

well if talor t is using it then i am sold. have you seen his tank... wow.
i have been using tropic marin and not impressed. i may have to get some and mix it with my tropic marin until i run out. anyne know the best local prices to get some.

That high ?
They list it @ 442

Was this from 1 container & then you switched,or did you use this for awhile and have the same readings in other purchases?

Yes 1bucket when I started the new 120g. Had to let things depleted on its own but that didn't happen as one clam and some frags did not fade one bit. So had to do water changes with IO. Maybe its the batch but I now rather start low and dose if needed to get where I want to be.

I've been using the aquavitro salinity salt - not a bad deal, $79 for 225 gallons at a LFS near me. So far so good. Been using it about 6 months

Ever check your levels on a new batch?
Especially the CA,like kn240 pointed out?

I only check my Tank readings, never have done a new batch.... I checked my Cal the other day and it was at 480, but my alk was at 6. I don't think Seachem caused my Alk to be at 6dkh since it has been that way for awhile it get up to 7 but not worried about it. My tank is pretty stabled and I've been using Seachem for about 3 months now.... In the beginning some of my Zoas did melt but I was also getting an Algae outbreak at the same time. Nutrients could have been low. IDK.. I'm not really concerned about checking some much just causes you to chase a number you really dont need too.... JMO

Thanks Chad. :) Thanks Harry. :) But, my tanks go up and down like everyones, depending on my time/care and/or neglect.

I've used Seachem's salinity aquavitro for a couple years. My opinion, NO salt is perfect, all the time. I've gotten a bad bucket of salinity before, I still have almost a full bucket of it that mixes cloudy, and almost nuked my tanks with it. I save this garbage bucket of it for cycling rock if/when I need to use junk salt. Though, overall, I do like the salinity brand salt. It mixes clear and doesn't leave a lot of brown residue, so for the most part, I like it. I use a 50 gallon vertical tank for my water storage, and reef crystals makes a mess of the inside. Yes, I still use it.

I started using Seachem Reef Salt a few months back after using Red Sea Coral Pro for over a year. I like the higher buffering of the Seachem and my corals really enjoy the extra trace elements in the Seachem. My mushrooms started multiplying like crazy after the switch to Seachem. Plus, it is available on Amazon Prime making it super convenient and cheap to order. The one down side I have found is it is super cloudy requiring a full day to clear up versus the Red Sea Coral Pro which only required a couple hours.

I use salinity, and always have in my 150... I second the thought of it needs more mixing time than standard salt but it has been great so far! My thought is the price is fair for how much it makes.. What's the big difference between the aquavitro salt and just regular salinity?

Maybe all salt mixes do this (this is the first tank I have mixed my own water), but after everything is mixed and I'm done with the water, there is always a little small pile of crap in the bottom of my bucket that needs to be washed out.. Not sure what it is, but just stuff that didn't mix.. Either way, never had an issue with salinity.

I recently switched to seachem reef and have had zero problems. I make 150 gallons at a time and have found it mixes clearer if I use heated water.I buy it from drs f&s and can get a box that makes 200 gallons cheaper than a bucket that makes 150.
