Seachem's new salt, Salinity?

99 bucks? Wow. Our sponsors around our area sell it for 65 bucks a bucket. I will be giving it a chance next go round.

Ah now that's because you live in Seachem territory! We have to add delivery charges to the LFS and such so bumps it up a bit.

I didn't even take that into consideration. Many members of ARC use it, and swear by it.

I thought that's not right! That's less than my LFS pays for it trade. It will be interesting to see how this stuff preforms as I think if it gets the results its saying it does then I think I will be using it. From the other thread it seems its difficult to mix.

I will be talking to a Seachem rep today at the LFS so I will try to get some more info on why this is.

I was going to either buy the Salinity or the Tropic Marin Bio-Actif which I had tried before and really liked. Then I ran into a sale on IO and just bought 1000g of IO for $194 out the door. I just couldn't pass that up!

Nope no gimmick. Its all to do with Seachem's new Aqua Vitro line which they refuse to let sell online as they want the sellers to be educated so that they can pass on the advice to the consumer. I know how much this stuff costs wholesale and it has very little markup. All other salts have much bigger profit margins.

By no means am I saying that it is fantastic and everyone should buy it but what I am saying is i think this stuff could be pretty good and for the extra money it could be that much better so that it could save you money.

For now I do not know enough about it to say but at my LFS they are excited about it and they are doing there own tests on it on there 155g bow front to see how it goes down.

I really dont know how you would find who stocks it but I guess Seachem will have their dealers on there website. I do know of another LFS which will be stocking it but for $129 in FL.

Well I paid $69.00 a bucket so there is a nice markup......

From reading the synthetic salt mix thread it the chemical forums alot of people are having trouble with mixing it, as bad as up to 4 days for it to clear, can anybody provide an analysis on a 1.026 mix?

It does take a few days to mix clear, but that is because of the higher levels of alk and calcium. I am awaiting my Seachem Test kits. As soon as I get them I can post some results. The inportant thing to remember, if you are testing this is to make sure you are at 35ppt on the refractomer.

Honestly do we need more alk and calcium than the higher end salts already provide?, unless you have a huge demand for it.

In my opinion yes. Less dosing is always good in my opinion. Here is a chart on the Salinity values...

Now this depends entirely on where you are and how much they buy. IF say they buy 5 buckets then they get it for so much but if they buy 20 they will get it for less and it depends on the LFS suppliers and their mark ups.

I know at my LFS we pay more than that to buy it trade, so it fluctuates a lot which is good to know.

So who here is the math wiz to tell us how much a gallon of I/O costs to a gallon of this new stuff at a 1.025/6 mix? I could do it but my brain is on weekend duty, lol.

I started using the salt, i have about 1/4 of the bucket used. I noticed the magnesium was 1300 ppm. I was impressed. I mix about 20 gallons and use a koralia 4 power head to mix it clear in about 12-24 hrs. The clairity is not as good when initially added into the display. for me it takes about 30 min to an hour for it to clear up in my tank. For us here its 120 canadian per bucket.

First of all there is NO 4 day training requirement set by seachem for Aquavitro, Salinity, or any of their products

Second your LFS is getting ripped off or not telling you the truth about how much wholesale is most likely not telling you the truth chances are since you dont work there they arnt telling you the exact price they pay and the typical retail price across the US is $99 - $120

also i know that a lfs i worked at in IL and SC pay the same for it from two different suppliers and the prices don't change that drastically based on whether your in territory or not and seachems territory covers the whole USA, Australia, almost all of Europe, and parts of asia

I work at an LFS and we just started carrying it. We're selling it cheaper than the 200gal buckets of Marin but honetly i'm not a fan. Tropic Marin Pro-reef is still my personal favorite just because it keeps my dKH in check and has all sorts of random trace elements that make dosing so much simpler

i work at an lfs also and i like it a a lot id say the same as tropic marin pro we use only salinity on our display and have amazing results and ours is cheaper than TMP

I had the seachem guy post a pitch to me for our store to buy it.

I was told would never be available online. Was also not informed of any training but was told that each bucket will have a guarenteed analysis of all chemicals in the salt as they make small batches at a time and hold the batches back and outsource a lab to do all the testing.
