Seahorse with Non-photosynthetic coral

Having never done it myself, all I can do is comment on the parts I do know.
First of all, you can have areas of high flow, medium flow, and low flow, with hitches in at least the med. and low flow areas. The seahorses will choose what they want.
As for choice of corals, the determining factors are, do they have any stinging properties and are they likely to suffer from seahorse hitching.
In your case, with needing to be in high flow area then they are unlikely to hitch there, but, they could be blown into stinging corals if they inadvertently pass into the high flow stream.

I have alot of none photo corals in my seahorse tank.
the flow is done using one power head with sponge on it and return of sump, which both flow towards the right and most flow needed corals on that side.
Sun corals requires almost no flow.
Most gorgoniass are safe with seahorses, but not all, the org site has named them all.
the Issue I find with it is that, our seahorse tanks already have high nutritions, with none photo corals, u have to add even more !!! some needed 10 times feeding a day ! that means u pure food in the HIGH flow area, for the corals to consume it and those Zooplanktons will settle on the low flow area causing algea ! or if wqe are lucky cause increase in pod population to eat the left over food and the pods can be consumed by the seahorses.
