Seahorses & NPS?

fullmonti

now is the time
I'm pretty sure seahorses & gorgonians are OK together. But what about the large polyp non-photosynthetic corals that have tentacles to gather their food, like Dendrophyllia? I have a very nice Dendro colony I would like to include in a tank with a pair of seahorses A yellow finger gorgonian & couple other NPS corals. Any problem with the Dendro & seahorses?

Sea horses

I don't believe so, unless you have a certain coral with strong stinging tentacles or something I don't think it would matter, I think they would enjoy a tank like that

Lots of peeps keep Dendro's w/SH. About the only concern would be the possibility of fry being eaten by the coral, but that's only an issue if you're squeamish about such things.

After several attempts at trying to keep seahorses with corals, I have come to the conclusion that pretty much any coral has the potential to sting them enough to stress them out. The only tank mates that I have had success with are dwarf pipefish, sexy shrimp, and snails.

Actually I found some threads on NPS forums that talk about this very thing. Different people had different experiences, but enough had bad experiences with seahorses being stung to make me think, why chance it. Thinking plant hitching post may be the way to go.
