Hello all, I have a puffer that I need to set a tank up for. I also want to get in to seahorses.
What are the chances of these tow spices getting alone?

Anyone have any reasons why this cant be done or is the answer just no? the puffer is 3 inches right now. I am well aware that he will need to be relocated in to a larger tank at some point.

Even a small puffer will likely harass a seahorse, and can cause a lot of damage to the seahorse with its sharp beak. And seahorses have no defense against this. The flippant answers you got were likely because for most people having kept seahorses the answer was quite obvious.
However, I can see if you've never had them why you would ask. Seahorses and most large predator fish are not going to work very well, even with said fish is small. In fact, seahorses only do well with a handful of peaceful tankmates. Gobies, cardinal fish, jawfish and some peaceful wrasses are okay with seahorse. Most fish are not, they'll either directly harass the seahorses, or they'll out compete seahorses for food.
