Sean's 65 Build Thread

You draw a circle, then you draw a line up from the center then an arc then another line, i hope that makes sense. Then you go under tools then use the follow tool, so the circle will follow the line then the arc.
i'll try to explain better later if you don't get it. Thanks though

Thanks for the tip on the sketchup!

Did you ever figure out how you were going to make the overflow boxes? If not, draw me a sketch of what you want, I could most likely make them for you.

I used a machining wax to cast the drums. They come in blue blocks, and they're pretty tough.

Their pretty simple, but i'm gonna try to think a bit more, then i'll give you a shout if i can't do it, thanks alot though. Thier just 4" wide, 4" deep, and 12" long. I havn't really thought about it too much yet.

Sooo. When i was playing with my new skimmer (Reef octopus recirc 110, got it for 150 bucks) I decided to start modding it, so i took it off the tank, and i just popped the thinner more flexible hose in the carlson surge device, and when i was sleeping, the hose slipped out....
and shot 30 or so gallons of water all over the carpet. SO theres a little delay

I've decided to buy 50 pounds of Uavina live rock from salty critter to suplement my 60 pounds of carribean. Hopefully Its got lots of life. I also got an iwaki pump from my uncle! wohoo. When i get back from NY i'm gonna put my carpet back down and start to finish my tank. I was also thinking about putting two small reverse carlsons on my tank, and removing one of the sinosoidal valves. I'll post pics/plans later. Keep posting anything

K So i Ripped up all my carpet pad, and installed some new stuff, and relayed down the rug. And the TANK IS BACK ON TRACK! Last night i built the sump to my old plans, and i'm glad i did. hopefully it will perfom as well as i thought it would. I messed up a few times so you'll see some things. any suggestions would be great.

A sinosoidal valve is a valve with multiple ports (Outlets), and one inlet. the drum in the inside rotates and changes ports (Someone correct me if i'm wrong). Its Like a SQWD or an ocean motions valve

originally i was planning on using one on each. But now i'm thinking about having two RCSD instead. THen having a different type of sinosoidal valve on the closed loop. I"ll go more in depth later. i'm really freaking ****ed i just broke a piece of my skimmer. so i'm trying to fix that right now

What does RCSD stand for?

Man sorry about the skimmer. I had the same thing happen to me, I dropped mine while I was cleaning it. I decided it was time for an upgrade....

reverse carlson surge device. Pics/explanations to come. Its similar to holding a bucket underwater upside down so all the air is trapped then releasing it all of a sudden so all the water rushes in providing a huge surge. The best part is all it needs to run is an air pump.

I Got the idea for some cylindrical overflows while reading through someones thread. So I drew up some pictures. this is what i'll be doing, so i won't need to do any acrylic work (no table saw, or router) I'm gonna drill 3 one inch holes about 3-4 inches down, then use an elbow so it points up, then use an adapter to go from 1 inch to 2 or three inches, to give me more surface area for the overflow. Here are some pictures to explain

Also i'm going to florida! on saturday for like a week, so hopefully i'll get my saltwater fishing license and collect some stuff. Keep leaving the coments.

In florida, I collected a bunch of blue legged hermits, and snails. I think they're ceriths, but would still appreciate an id if someone can. I also bought sand as well. I have the overflows built, and i just need to install them. Pics to come

Thats awseome!! I Wish I could collect my own livestock. What does it take to get a saltwater fishing license? Is that the same thing as fishing with a rod and reel?
