Searching for Roanoke area apartments

My sister is a recent college graduate and might be relocating to Roanoke in the very near future. Monday of this week, I traveled down with her to go apartment hunting. We hit every big complex that was listed in the apartment guide. We found a few nice once but most all are booked on the 1bedroom units and the few that were not is stretching what she can afford.

I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation on other places that might not advertise in the apartment guide. Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

I might have something if you are interested. What area are you looking at in Roanoke? PM me with location and price range.
Thanks,
Ade

the area around cave spring and tanglewood mall is a pretty good area IMO. dont know of any specific areas though.

i would stay away from anything in downtown roanoke (unless you like that kind of thing), and esspecially stay away from the immediate area around valley view mall.

The nicest place we found that had any vacancies is Pebble Creek Apartments but she feels that might stretch her a bit too thin so she is still looking. However, she is also researching the Fredricksburg area as she has an offer there as well.

The pay should be more in Fredricksburg and so will the price of rent. Tell her to send me her resume to me achandler@titankinetics.com

Pebble Creek is nice area but too overpriced. I live down the road and it is very nice but much cheaper than pebble creek.

SUMMIT APARTMENTS

It seems like we checked Summit and they did not have any 1 bedroom apartments available.

If you don't mind my asking, were do you live?

She is supposed to be deciding today so it might be a mute point.

Summertree APTS. In Roanoke ... Good place ...rent is good too ... Allthough i lived in Boston before this so the rent is definetly better here.

Hey NbMaxx13 we're neighbors, kinda. Do you have any frags to sell??? Maybe trade in a few months when my stuff grows out.

I just looked up Summertree and Edgehill Estates. The rent listed is better than what she was looking at but neither accept dogs and she is dead set on bringing her dog. It is a small dog, sub 20lbs, but he is still limiting her options as we knew it would.

I do appreciate the tips though.

WOW yeah the dog thing changes it all ... really hard to find a place around here that takes dogs and is reasonable ... more than likely will have to find a house to rent ...

Hypertek99 ...I'll PM you ...

if she doesn't mind a ~30-45 min commute and wants to live in a smaller town anyway, blacksburg has *tons* of cheap apartments for rent (i see signs everywhere) and pets are generally welcome most places here. can probably also swing a short term deal, to give her time to find the perfect place in roanoke.

I just found out that he made another trip down on Tuesday looking for places and found something more reasonable with a 6 month lease term. I didn't talk to her directly but it is within sight distance of a mall and near the VFW.

Peters Creek Apartments allows dogs and they're very nice and affordable. They're also larger than most average apts around here. I know the 3BD is 1300 sq ft. Pretty good size for an apartment.
