SEASL Coral Frag Exchange

April 9th, 2011

Location ::
Hope Church
4200 Brown Road
St Louis, MO 63134-3402

Time :: 10am-12noon

Come join us for a pizza lunch, coral frag exchange and friendly conversation with other saltwater aquarium addicts. The club will order pizza for lunch and those who want can bring sides and desserts to share. As usual the event is free and you do not have to be a member to join in on the fun.

Frag Exchange Layout
  • To participate in the exchange bring one or more coral frags
  • Bring one leave with one. Bring five leave with five
  • All frags must be mounted, healthy and pest free
  • Bring a picture of each frag, especially of zoanthid frags, which will be closed up
  • Repack all frags in supplied clear deli containers and fill out supplied frag tag
  • Place picture and frag tag on the side of the deli container for each frag
  • For every coral frag brought to the exchange you will receive one raffle ticket
  • Once all the frags are in, the exchange will begin
  • When your ticket is called you pick a frag
  • Tickets will be pulled until all the frags have new homes

As always, this is a great time. Be sure to come a little early to get your corals labeled and organized.

See you there!

Jim Craig

I will be there with some green star polyps and some kenya tree. I'm still super new to this fragging thing, so I only have starter corals.

Nick

Well, let's see. How about a blue tort, neon green nepthea, yellow polyps, eagle eyes, pearl berry, and whatever else looks good as I am bagging. If anyone is not coming because they don't have a coral to enter in the exchange, please send me a PM. I'll bring a coral you can use as your entry. This is always a great time. See you Saturday!!

Saltgills,

If you're serious about offering to help out noobs I'd love to take you up on it. I just got back into the hobby after a 7 year hiatus and would like the chance to get back into the reefkeeping scene and meet some locals as well.

Let me know,

Matt

Matt,
I am glad you spoke up. I'll bring a coral for your entry in the exchange and you are bound to have a good time tomorrow!

See you there!

Jim Craig

Have to work and will miss out. Was counting on getting some more of your corals Jim. I seem to always pick yours. Have a piece of pizza for me. Hope to make the last meeting of the year. Paul

So, I have a question about what "mounted" frags means...my green star poylps are attached to a couple of dead pieces of monti cap. Would that be considered "mounted"? Lol

Just wondering if I need to mount what I have to a frag plug or can I just bring what I already have done.

You can bring them as long as they are mounted to something solid. The restriction is mostly to avoid things like trimmings from a leather that would take weeks to attach and very easily could just blow around and die. See you tomorrow. :)

Nick,
Thanks for putting together a very fun event. It was great to see so many friends and to see everyone go home with something.

Also, congratulations to Jim Privitor on being elected to the board as an executive officer, to Janet Witteried for being elected as the new Secretary and to Joe Weibert for taking on the position as Frag Master. I see lots of great meetings in our future with all this enthusiasm!

Take care,

Jim Craig
