Seasonal Temp Change

I am using the seasonal temp change code for my chiller and heater because I like the idea of changing the temp to match the seasons as it seems it would mirror nature and may help stimulate growth. I wish I could modify the season table (as I could in my AC3) but I understand this is not possible with the apex. Nevertheless, looking closely at the season tabel I notice that there are pretty significant temp swings during some months for example, July goes from a low of 78.5 (July 1) to 80.4 (July 31). Does the water temp on the native reefs our corals come from vary that much?

Being a diver I can say for ceratin that some areas have even larger swings so 1.9 F over a month is quite likely.

Any idea when there will be a firmware update that allows modification of the season table, even the AC3 had this feature!

Seems like someone who knew how to get into the firmware could easily change the seasonal table, it must be a list of integars that could be changed. I know it is more difficult for Curt to make a task that allows the users to chaneg the table, jsut wish I had the knowledge to make the change in the backend of the firmware.

Is there any workaround to changing the amount of temp swing in the season table through program statements, the only way I have found is modifying my program to change the offset or chaning the temp the system is reading by biasing the temp calibration.

I change the RT temp with an offset. I just update about once a month. That would be cool to change it though like the old models. Also would be nice to change the sunrise tables. I hate that my tank is 5 hours behind real time.

You don't need to alter the Tank Time. The Sun command has parameters to offset the sunrise/sunset times. From the Unofficial User's Guide:

If Sun [+/-] [DELAY] / [+/-] [DELAY] Then [ON/OFF/PROFILE]

Yeah, but the delay only goes to 360 mins. I have 4 mh lamps each staggered 1 hour and like it to go from about 12p till midnight. Can't offset enough without shifting the tank time.

The range on the Apex is +/- 600 minutes.

You can also offset your tank's timezone/clock; this is what I do so get the light cycle slightly more to my day; that way I don't need to think about SUN offset as everything is relative to tank time.
