I got to give praise to the fellas at Seaworld, I have seen that tank in person and been behind the scenes, amazing stuff!!!!
Oh yeah, that tang, it's called a dussumieri tang, from hawaii I believe.

Thats really nice. It will even be more grown in by the time MACNA is here.

Wow! I don't ever remember them having a reef tank, but last time I was there the corals were probably still 1" frags. lol. Nice pics! Makes me want to go again.

Thanks its hard to believe my iphone took these good of pictures and this is next to manta and it opened in march so its grown a lot since then I was there the first day it opened to the public

I went by there this weekend with the kids it truly is beautiful. On the downside when i got home made my 180 feel like a beta bowl:rolleye1::rolleye1:

Was that the one next to Manta? There are 2 more reef tanks in the Atlantis exit area/ shop. There is also one softie tank in the Shark Encounter area.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the nice words. I work at the Manta Aquarium and am the resident "coral aquarist". We currently have 3 large reef aquariums and a few smaller reef/liverock tanks. The larger ones are two 1500 gallon exhibits and the 12,000+ monster that is pictured above. Every so often we have a behind the scenes ORCA day. Maybe it's time for another!

Keeping our fingers crossed that it will be looking good come MACNA time.

Well Justin let me be the first to say your doing a awesome job! My family and I look forward to see that tank everytime we come to seaworld. Thank goodness I'm a 2 year passport member lol keep up the good work

I'd also like to send some kudos your way, Justin!

I had some friends visit from down south who own an LFS down there and we were all blown away by that tank! (And my friends are not easily impressed!) We've been wondering if it gets natural light...if not, what are you using for lights? We also loved the look down tank with all of the scooter blennies, goby/pistol shrimp pairs and mandarins.

I can only imagine how amazing it's all going to look when MACNA rolls around!!

I always have to stop by and check it out as well when I go. I went on ORCA tour you gave last year. Would love to see whats behind this tank. Lets get another behind the scenes tour going for ORCA.

Beautiful reef tanks at Sea World, all of them, great job Justin.
Looking forward for the next behind the scenes, I'd really like to see what supports that huge Manta reef tank.

FYI, the aquarium has 12,000 watts of light. 8,000watts of 14K and 4,000 watts of 10K!

The 10K's are only on between 10:00am and 4:00pm and really wash out the 14K colors! In total there are about 6 aquarists that help with the upkeep of the reef and the other Manta aquariums.
