Sebae Anemone Problems!!!

I am not sure if my Sebae Anemone is acting normal or Dying. Looks like my anemone turned itself inside out. the outside now has Brown coil matter all over it. the tenticles are deflated and seems to only be around the rim. is it normal for an anemone to turn completely inside out, and have the brown stuff all over it. The anemone does not seem to be slimmy. Please advise.

No it's not good for an anemone to turn completely inside out like you're describing. IME from watching the anemones at the lfs, this is a sign it is nearing death.

I would check ALL water params and fix any if needed. If everything seems perfect I would keep my eye on it and be prepared to tank it out if it starts to fall apart (death).

Also how long have you had it? Was it healthy when you bought it? Details on water params and lighting would help.

If you just got it, How did you acclimate it?

I didnt acclimate for more than 30min. It looked very healthy at time of purchase. i only have it for week and a half. Water quality is good. Day after putting it in tank, it was opened and seemed in good health

You didn't acclimate it correctly.

There are a couple different ways but 30 mins is not enough. What I do is float it for 20-25 minutes to temp acclimate it then empty the anemone and all the water into a bucket and drip water into he bucket for at least 2 hours and then scoop out the bucket (taking it out of the water but supporting it with my hands) and put it into the tank. I have never lost an anemone.

I'm not saying that's the only problem because I don't know about your setup but it is a problem.

How long has your tank been set up? And other info would help.

Probably something else. What color was it when you bought it? Is it attached to rock? When you bought it, did they remove it from a rock with their fingers? What do you mean by good water? Whats your lighting?

My tank is set up for about 10 months now. I have a Pink tip anemone living for a few months now and i used to have another sebae anemone but it died a month or so ago. I think my clown beat it to death. The old anemone was not large enough to host with the clown. I am not sure whats up with this anemone though. what is the brown tube like stuff stuck to it. its not pouring out it almost looks like sand and pebbles stuck to the bottom, I really think its inside out. a few days ago it was footed too. It just came undone the other night. Hmmmmm. Only change i noticed was the tank was running 2 degrees warmer than usual its at 82F. i just lowered it. Dont you think if acclimation was the problem it wouldnt even last 1 week?

Good water, i mean nitrates, Calcium, Alkalinity, PH, Temp, Salinity, are all where they should be. the color of the anemone was yellow and white, tenticles were white as well. The anemone was not attached to a rock, it was in a holding tank. the Body looked very healthy, no tears, no bruises etc.

Usually anemones that aren't acclimated correctly will die in the first 2 weeks, sometimes last a month. It could also be stress from shipping. Like if it was shipped to the lfs, acclimated to the lfs and you happened to get it the same day, so it had to acclimate the the lfs water then hours or a day later it had to acclimate to your water but you didn't give it enough time combined with having to acclimate so much.

Probably multiple stresses adding up leading to the death.

2 degree swing probably didn't do it. My heater wasn't strong enough to handle the couple of cold nights last week and at night my tank temp would be down to 73 and then up to 79 during the day. It happened 2-3 nights and I added a 200watt heater asap and my water is constant 78 now. I have one gbta, one lta, and one not 100% sure nem (prob ritteri).

Pictures would definitely help along with answers to shobo's questions.

Not attached is not a good sign. Wasn't attached to the glass or buried in the sand?

When you say white was it a transparent white or like solid color? Like could you easily see through the tentacles?

Naaah couldnt see through the tenticles. I be honestl i dont rmemeber if it was attached, i believe it was partially in the sand. I am going to try to take a picture now, but how do i upload it. for you to view?

Yea it looks bad. It's possible it could come back. I'm not sure what to tell you. I'd watch it so that if it dies you can quickly get it out of the tank (you'll notice a very bad smell and the nem will be falling apart).

Could you list numbers for the pH, sg, etc. What lighting do you have? Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Did you say it was yellow when you bought it? If so, it was possibly a dyed sebae, unfortunately common in the trade. It will need excellent water conditions and proper lighting to recover. What type of lighting do you have? What is your specific gravity? You will want a sg at 1.025-1.026. If you adjust sg, do it slowly.
