Sebae healthy?

I may buy this sebae from someone, but I wanted to know, is it healthy?

Sebaes aren't supposed to be white, correct?

Yep, I would pass on it. Other anemones can be brought back from being bleached like that, but for some reason sebaes are really difficult to bring back from that condition. I have no facts to back this up, but I would guess that 80-90% of them in that condition don't make it.

I don't have anything to back it up either, but I'd put money on it, you're right. They sure are pretty for the brief time they are with us though.

I made the mistake of buying a sebae that looked exactly like what that picture.... should have done more research :furious: , but I was new to the hobby at that time and it was an easy mistake to make. Mine lived for about 6 months and died, polluting the whole tank darn near killing everything...buyer beware!

Yup, I tried one about two weeks ago. He's a little finicky but sticky and eating. Well see.

...as i said in your post the one you have is o.k. for just found at the lfs. i've seen better but most look like the bleached one at the start of this thread. your sebae has some color to it and will continue to regain more, so yes i think is healthy for a new guy. just keep up what you are doing now and it'll be fine.

Mine was only maybe a little darker than that when I got it. I let it get used to the tank for about a week, then I started feeding it twice a week until it seemed healthy (about 1.5 months) Now it's twice as big, nice and tan, and, other than maybe once a month, I let the clowns take care of feeding it.

I'm no expert but the thing I looked for more than whether or not it was bleached was it's feeding responce.
