can some one tell me the distinction between the 2. i was under the impression that i had a clarkii but was told it might be a seabae after a year and a half of owning her. cant post pics but i can if you shoot me a email address.

In almost every case if there is any doubt, you have A. clarkii. A. sebae are shaped more like Saddlebacks, are not real hardy early on, and are not imported very often.

A. sebae: Please note the tail fin matching the anal fin

A. clarkii: Please note most have 3 stripes and the mid stripe is not typically slanted at all:

Post a picture in your gallery, you'll get an answer pretty quick :)

Cheers.

So Traveller7 I am assuming you have an A. Clarkii by looking at your aviatar? The anal fin does not match the tail.

Nope, the picture in the avatar is a Male A. chrysogaster within the clarkii complex. We don't see many of them in the US, or maybe anywhere else for that matter. More picks in gallery somewhere.

Anal fin to tail fin comparison works with most A. sebae as an eliminator for clarkii complex clowns. Some of the black bodied A. sebae get tough again :>(
