mrcrab, when they said that, I believe their implication was not that the anem was not in the ocean, but that they did not collect it from the ocean and instead bought it at a store.

Ya think! :D

SARCASM...just another service we provide

So....looks like we will be go-ing in the next half hour.....wish us luckj, i am only expecting to come back with one hermit, so that i wont be dis-appointed if i dont get alot....lol, that way, i can be very happy with anything more than one hermit crab!!1 WHOO HOO

Wow what an amazing list Samala, I hear you're quite the expert of finding things down that way, I may have to hit you up for advice on where and how you find all of these things!

My husband also says you could make some cool band names out of your collection like "Bay anchovy and the weird electric green shrimps" hehehe

And yeah seth wheres your report :)

Samala!!! I need to setup a weekend to go with you! lol I've made out pretty awesome before....but never as good as you ALWAYS make out.

Seth, come on I know you have got to be home by now, unless you were eaten by one of the thousand of sea cucumbers out there....

i got

1 snail
1 goby

seth got

10 crabs (roughly)
2 gobys
shrimp
hermits
and some snail things

we didint get to go to the south side as it started to rain.

Awww, you missed out on the cool stuff.....rain is overrated. lol
Is the snail thing, like half a clam shell with a snail under it? That would be a limpet.

OKI, yes i am hoem now...lol

I got one Spotted Watchman Goby, 17 Fiddler Crabs, and 10 emerald crabs. I also got 4 shrimp (IDK what kinds, they look like gost, but also have stripes on them...) and these awesome snails, hermits, and weird snail "like" things.....

I also snagged two nice sized peices of rock....with good growth on them (I know, its illegal, but oh well, I passed out and next thign i know, i am on the way home with live rock in the back, no idea how it got there....lol)

SO, overall, i think it was a good trip, now i know what o expect next time and also what to get more and less of. We ddint find too much where we were, apparently, alot of you guys foind TONS of stuff all over elsewhere, i know Brannon does, but IDK where the heck you guys find it. We dint get to go to the south side, but i was told that the most was on the north...IDK, im not a doctor, but there has to be something we did wrong, locations wise....???

If you would have read the regulations you are only alllowed a combination of 20 total specimans taken from the ocean each day. You also knew that the rock is illegal and still took it, then you posted on a board where people are pretty passionate about conservation. If people were to collect like this everyday there wouldnt be anyting left. I dont know really what else to say. I just couldnt believe your post.

Regardless of how many items you took, you knew it's illegal to take live rock. Live rock is the back bone of our reefs, and if everyone felt the way you do there wouldn't be anything left. A lot of people have stuck up for you and stood by your side on this forum for some of the choices, decisions, and or questions you may have, but I would be amazed if anyone will stand by this. Not only was it a bad decision, but probably an even worse decision posting!

Well, i know it was not the right thign to do, but i just weighed them, and the two prices ad up to a hlaf of a pound, they are pourous and lightweight.I know that if everyone did this, they would be gone, but with all the xcitement and all today, i guess i didnt think right. and i know no-one will or should back me up

and i know Brannon....lol, we didnt have time and it was about to rain, but we will next time.lol

and the law is if you are of a boat or peir.....it is not illegal to take more than 22 specimes if you are off the rocks or shore, which we were. so, it is not illegal and does not need a permit (what we did)(and we baught one andbrought one anyways though...)

I'm only going to comment on one aspect of this. As for the 20 limit thing, I believe it only applies to certain species which are specifically listed, not all specimens. I do not believe fiddler crabs, or the snails are included as a regulated species. Tho, why and the heck would you want fiddler crabs? Unless you plan on going sheephead fishing...If not I think my wife is going this weekend and they make really good bait.

As for the live rock, thats a different story that I understand the moral issues of and will refrain from commenting on.
