Sedra /skimmer question

I have a euroreef skimmer rated for 135 gallons. It comes with a sedra powerhead with needle wheel venturi injector. My question is this does sedra incorporate in thier powerheads anywhere a foam filter??? My buddy said that they do and I just cannot see from looking at the pump in the sump where a oam filter would be located. My concern is if it has a foam filter acting as mechanical flitration then it is a nitrate trap. Do any of you know if my buddies claim is correct????

The Sedra pump I have doesn't have a foam filter anywhere. I think he or she is talking about some other model.

sedra pumps

sedra pumps

The standard Sedra circulation pumps do come with a foam filter and can be deitrius traps, but the the standard sedra pumps that come with the Euro Reef skimmers have a venturi installed and the foam filter cap is removed or not installed, by the pump maker.

Well...

The pump doesnt have any foam filters on it, but the euroreefs come with a foam piece that fits on the outflow pipe, mainly to minimize splashing noise. If you are really concerned about this do a search for "gate valve mod" which will let you ditch the foam as well as make the skimmer easier to control (some have the gate valve standard though)
