Seeking advice from those who keep yumas and rics

I have kept rics forever and currently have about 6 different morphs in my nano now. Run 1 X 150 w halide 20k and 2 18w actinics. My rics thrive in the mid area in direct light with fairly high flow.

I have a beautiful yuma on the way for Tuesday delivery (see pic) and was seeking advice on placement from those who are experienced with both rics and yuma's.

Unlike the Ricordea florida mushrooms, Ricordea yuma don’t like strong light, and you should place them in a shaded corner. They also take a little longer to acclimate, so you must watch it closely. It is probably a good idea that, for at least a week, to blow the mushroom, especially at its base, with a gentle water current, once or twice a day, using a turkey baster. Good luck!

Yes, the spot looks good - just make sure the mushroom will not face straight up to the light, but towards the front glass. Boy, you have plenty of light for that small tank. Good luck!

So the yuma I bought perished while still at the seller. Luckily they got a similar one in a few days later albeit slightly smaller so they threw in a nice tangerine yuma as well. Both are placed in the bottom low flow and mostly shaded spot recommended and seem to be doing very well.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I keep my Yuma's towards the bottom of my tank (24") under 250W MH light. I find they do well in higher light, I even keep some around the middle of the tank under direct light and they do just fine.

Pinks are especially touchy to bright light. Keep it shaded for as long as you can. I kept mine shaded for at least a month and then when i moved it, i still kept a paper towel on the glass hood for some shade. All in all it took about 6 weeks before direct light. It has got to be aleast 3 inches accross now and very happy.
