seio powerhead

I think he meant the CA levels are really high because of his CA and kalk reactor so the pumps got caked up faster.

I love our Seio 2600, and to this date have not had a problem with them (going on three or four months). Would I have prefered a Tunze? You bet. Would my wallet allow it? No flipping way. I think as far as water movement, Seios are the best value you can find. We clean ours every other month in a vinegar bath and take a toothbrush to it afterwards to ensure no issues, but we do that with our MaxiJets, Mag 9.5 return pump and the Via Aqua 2600 Skimmer pump. In my mind, its sort of like getting oil changes on your car - can you go more than 3000 miles or 3 months without an oil change? Yeah, one of my friends has a car running that hasnt had an oil change in 3 years! But will the car last as long without regular maintenence? Probably not (there are no absolutes when it comes to things like that. Theres always the fluke that slips through the cracks).

So my personal opinoin for your 75, I'd reccomend at least the 1100s as well. You cant really compare gph for gph between the Seios and MaxiJets because with the Seios, the flow is much wider and more dispersed. If you go with the 1100s or even 1500s you can always dial the flow back a bit. But, as brought up earlier, if you're handy and have some time on your hands, the MaxiJet Stream Mod would be a great way to save some money and achieve greater flow coupled with the wider more dispersed flow.

It's not a maintenence issue with seio's. Some of them are problems right out of the box. Seems it's QC issue.

Any word on something coming out to fill the gap between the seio and the tunze?

I had a couple small powerheads running on my 20g tank. Just wasn't enough flow. I've had this 820 sitting here for the past 2 months. Bought it used and never hooked it up until today actually. I do like the added turbulence you get with them. Nice ammount of flow for the price. Granted....mine hasn't been running all that long to get into some of the problems you guys have had.

Yes.... It's called a maxi-stream mod :)

You can use any powerhead to mod it really and not just Maxijets.

Hey D, I'm gonna have to check that out. I know I've only been using the Seio for a few days, but man, is that thing loud. It's a night and day difference between a tank running with 2 maxi-jets and a tank running with 1 seio and 1 maxi. I do like the additional flow though. Can the modded maxi jet really give you the same push of water?

I attached a 2 gallon bag to the output of the pump while in my bath tub. Then timed how long it took to fill up said bag. It filled 1 gallon in about 2 seconds.

Not 100% precise but it's close I think.
