The Seio controller is definately a product that has been on many people's wanted lists for a while.
It looks like an all around good product from what I can see so far.
I'm curious however, as to why they decided to have both pumps ramp up and down simultaneuosly, and not individually. A pulsing effect would have been nice as well.
Robin, is there any way to find out what steered their design this way?

The controllers sound like a good idea...even if they don't alternate the pumps. I would think having 2 pumps ramp up and then down from 30% to 100% would be quite similar to surge in the reef. Depending on placement, I would think that's how you would get the random flow as it bounces off LR. Of course, having returns or other pumps could help too.
I won't comment on quality. I'm only now looking at picking up a SEIO...and I obviously haven't played with one of these controllers yet. But based on the idea, I think it's pretty good.
I just wish this was a better deal for smaller tanks.
In a big tank, you might have 2 controllers and the larger SEIOs...but then it might be worth the investment in Tunze at some point.
In a small tank like mine (30g cube), you certainly don't need 4 SEIOs and 2 controllers. I'd really like two 620s that could be controlled. But, I'm not willing to pay $200 for a controller that controls two $35 pumps. Plus, I'm not sure where I could hide what looks like a really big control box given my set-up location etc.
You guys with big tanks may have something here. I think I'm going to pick up a 620...and then use MJs (unmodded) on timers. If only there was a smaller AND cheaper alternative like this for smaller tanks. Maybe one day...

If you put a Hydor flo deflector on a MJ1200 in a 30-gallon cube with some Seio 620s, you'd save a lot of money and get some very good quality flow.
