I'd be willing to bet it'll run pretty much anything. Including the AC tunzes (not the DC oens though).

If taam says it'll run a pump they dont make, then theyre liable if it breaks the pump, so theyre not going to say it. The seios motors arent any different really than any other powerhead. It should run other ones fine, theres just liability issues.

Theres also the consumer interest. They dont want you using other pumps, they want you to buy seios to put on your wavemaker.

as far as $200? Its too much. I bought my 3 820s for a grand total of $120. Theres plenty of chaotic flow in the tank. I could buy 5 more for the price of hte wavemaker..its not worth it. $100, I'd go out and buy one.
 
this gave me an idea-- you can run a 1500 and a 1100 pointed at each other-- the 1500 on the controller and the 1100 on constant--- (or any unmatched pair of seios)

Ok, here was my point.

The controller doesn't alternate pumps ... so hook up one or two Seios to the controller and have them oppose another Seio, or in the case of my original post the output of your sump return which is a fixed constant amount of water flowing into the tank, and use the up and down "wave" generating property of the Seio controller to break up the continuous water flow. Viola ... turbulant water flow, varying water flow patterns depending on the "strength" of the flow comming for the Seios on the controller etc. Why would this not work to generate varying water currents?

Does this product have the features of a Tunze? Of course not. Does it matter, well depending on your application maybe not. But some of us, I'm sure, think that Tunze charges way TOO much for to water pumps and a controller. If you can make the Seios and the controller work for your application and save some money, I say go for it. If you want to spend the extra $500 - $1000 on a tunze for waht ever reason, then do that. I too am disappointed that the Seio controller is not as functional as I would like it to have been. But if you can come up with a way to generate the flow you want and save some coin in the process, I say go for it.
 
IMO if you want to save some coins and have the same "fucntionality" as the SEIO controller, you should look into getting a couple Chauvets. They would be cheaper.

I'm sorry dhnguyen, I just can't read your posts till you change that avatar. ;)

Does the Chauvets turn the powerhead on and off? Very few power heads will take that abuse long term. Kind of like a ticking timebomb. Not sure what the worst that could happen. Just lock up or over heat in some way?

Um... if that could be done reliably for any length of time, do you think that there'd be such a big deal over the new controller? Its few and far between that you find people who have had this running for any length of time....
 
i ran 3 seios on a chauvet timer for almost a year with no problems. had them set to switch slow and everything worked fine, only cost like 30$ for the thing.

anyhow side tracking the here so i'll stop, and since Taam is blowing it again, for me anyhow i will also stop bashing them. hehe

If you dont like it dont read it, or go some where else.... better yet go build one yourself,and see how much it cost you........

Everytime someone posts on these forums you got the self proclaimed GURU`s telling everyone how bad its going to be before they even try or see it, sometimes I wonder if some of you are clairvoyent lol.

Now I see why some manufactures stay away from these forums!.:lolspin:

Then there are the polite and constructive individuals who has to listen to you all rant.

for what we need I think that the SEIOS will do the job just fine,and for the savings its well worth it at least there is another option now that revs the pumps up and down.

Information for all! get a peak at it before it hits the market thought it was a good idea.

I have been waiting this for a year now and so have others, this is not something that has just came about its been in the works for a long time do a search there was all kind of rumours about it,and just in time for my move and new tank so for me I am a happy camper because I had on order a TS48 kit which I cancelled.

Anyways every post you make be it about Deltec,Tunzie,SEIO anything.... its just not good enough lots of opinions but no experience.

Hi Tim,

Yeah its going to be 84" X 24" x 36"

Like I had mentioned I was planning on buying a T-Kit, but the SEIO Controller is coming out just in time:p
Now I will buy 2 SEIO Controllers and Four 2600! and to shake it up a little more I presently have 1 ReefRat and a SeaSwirl which I will hook one up to the sump return,and the other to my chiller return which is going to be setup like a closed loop.

Hmmm... Ok lets see here.

Deltec, Tunze = great products albeit expensive
SEIO? Mediocre at best.

That that's not my opinion, that's based on known facts and performance track.

As far as experience ... Well tell you what. You can experience it and I'll learn from it :)

That's why all the Maixjet-mod threads are the most viewed,read, and responded to on the DIY forum. You're right us DIY'ers have no clue what we're doing :)
 
Seriously though dhnguyen,

Why is it that every post you go on you trash every product that you NEVER owned?

Personally my Reef is in my living room and my guest see it, I dont want a hacked up mod in there.

The SEIO Controller gives a alternative thats it! I have not had one problem with my pumps so I am convinced they are good.

Anyways I will place a SEIO controller and pumps in my reef, and you can use your MOD a la JASON VORHEES in your tank....to each his own....lol
