Seio`s Multicontroller

If the pump had a very wide flow spread, the flow opens up to 2 or 3 feet across a foot out, and that flow could pulse, it might not be bad in a 300 gallon sps tank. It does sound like a lot of flow. I guess it depends on the type of flow.

if it's as controllable as they say, then the 10,000gph will be wonderful for occassional pulses to create surges. don't think they intend most people to run it full out 24/7.

Good point. Run 2 between 30 and 70 percent most of the time with running both all out once a day.

it sounds like the pump will pump up to 10,000 GPH with the option of a controller. it sounds like you will be able to fine tune the water flow for your aquarium size and type of animals kept.
Can not wait to see

I was pretty excited when i first came upon this thread. The controller sounded great, but without switching and a $200 price might make me wait a few months to see how it performs.

The POLARIO sounds nice, depending on how far down you can tune it.

I like my Seios for the most part. My first one i turned off and on once a day to feed for 6 months. Worked everytime, then bam no more go. I emailed TAAM they asked to ship it to them. 10 days later it was in my mailbox fixed. Good service IMO.

dhnguyen.........dude go back to your basement and invent a new maixjet then you can come out a play with the big boys(seio). why do you have so much bad words for every product? if you don't like it...start another DIY thread.

2x210g , dude, where did that come from. and take your own advice. if you dont like what is written, then dont read it.

also, when did the seios get moved up to the big boy class, LOL!

 @ big boys(seio). Clearly you must have mistaken the size of the seio for its performance. I digress... :)

'Big boys' - as in 'Big pumps'

Sometimes size DOESN'T matter

DH last time I checked 820gph for only 18 watts. What maxijet or other pH does something close?

Uhh. Have you ever looked at a Tunze? I think my 6000's consume 15W, and move 1850 GPH. So, less watts, better than 2x the flow. Yeah they cost more, but they really, really are better in just about every respect, from mounting to controllability.

And yes, I was a very, very (Less than a day) short term owner of a Seio. A rather unpleasant experience overall, but I won't go into that.

I'm actually interested in the controller for some Eheim stuff on a 29G tank I have in my bedroom, with a few damsels in it...

So, I hope somebody grabs one and tells me how they work, and hopefully it's good!

my Maxijet 900 running single 2035 Octura propeller easily pushing 1800+ gph and uses a mere 8.5 watts

-EDIT- And the above mentioned Tunze

How did you measure this?

How did you measure this?

By the old bag attached to the output method. Then timed for some seconds and measure how much water is in the bag.
What I got was it took about 2 seconds to fill 1 gallon.

If you only did the test for two seconds then that's not a long enough time to get an accurate measurement of flow. You really should measure the flow for closer to 10 seconds so that when you divide the volume displaced into the bag by the time to fill the bag, you are getting a good average.

Also, we don't know what the actual power consumption was without a watt meter on the pump

Also, is there any potential for head pressure influencing the test? Like your method of measurement was creating back pressure and influencing the results? I'd say the accuracy is highly questionable.

PS, please donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t take offense to us questioning your results. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s just suspect that a DIYââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢er could out do an engineer who designs these for a living. Plus I can tell you that when comparing two similar items, like two pumps, a scientist would be much more precise in his measurement and would still apply logic to ask the question ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œdo my results make logical sense or should I be looking for an error in my process?ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚.
