Seio`s Multicontroller

Here is what I was told by The Man from TAAM. The controller senses the load from the pump as it is being ramped down. Using a pump with a different impedance can cause the controller to reset itself, could happen quickly, could happen slow. It could damage the pump (I am assuming his lawyer told him to say that due to liability issues) or the controller.

If someone tries this on a different pump I would let it run a few days before doing the reefmonkey victory dance of joy.
 
My one beef with the SEIO pumps and not the controller is the 2600 hanging options,you honstly have no choice but to use the suction cups!!!which of coarse detaches from the glass.With the 1500 I did not have that problem.

anyone liking the seio controllers? ive got a 1500 in my 75gallon and Im thinking of getting a controller for it!
 
well i now have 2 100's hooked to it in my 125. so far its great. I have it set at 15 sec intervals. Tank will get semi-calm, then kinda violent during the 100% part of it.
 
Actually, all you asked was if the controller ramps them up or down. The thread right above yours said as much, as does Seio's literature:

badpacket, please re read my post and the post above it. well here i will tell you what it said, i was asking if the controller by aquamedic, the controller that rockindacheeks refered to, not the seio controller. hence when i said i have been following this thread, kinda means that i would know what the seio controller does.

so please look back a few posts yourself

not trying to be testy either :D

I have 2 controllers running 2 2600s & i like the flow. I have them in a 80 gal tank ( yeah i know thats a hell of alot of flow in this size tank) But when i bought them before the controllers the flow was not that bad as long as i pointed them up & not towards my sandbed. Now that i have them on a controller i have a nice wave back & fouth across my tank. These are not Tunzes but if you already have Seios in your tank the controllers make it worth keeping these powerheads. Just My 2 cents..........

It doesnt look like it. From what i read its programable for different settings and it shuts pumps off not ramps them down.

Before I ship this back (I just got mine this morning)--- does anyone know if either outlet should work on just one pump??

I plug my M1500 into the left outlet and it works just fine at the high and low speed....doesn't run at all if I plug it into the right outlet.. I checked the voltage with a fluke multimeter on the right outlet and it only reads about 8 volts on the right, getting about 108volts (at high and low speed) on the right outlet....

Looks like I'll be waiting another week-- I called champion and they want me to return it before sending me a new one--

In the 10-15minutes I ran the one Seio on it-- I really liked the varying flow.

"If it wasn't for the bad kind I wouldn't have any luck at all" :(
 
hey spuds, i just switch the outlet on mine just to check and they both work the same with one pump on. it sounds like you just got a faulty one. i've been running mine for about a week with one 2600 on it and i really like it, i'll probably add another pump later on though.

I can definitely hear a humming as the controller ramps up the powerhead.
I don't think the powerheads made that noise before I hooked up the controller.
Very irritating.

I might have another piece of equipment hitting the for sale forum.:sad2:
 
I didn't hear a thing when mine shifted... it was shifting though-- I'd check the pump before blaming the controller....

I was using an M1500-- which pump was humming for you... did you check to see if it (the pump) was touching the glass and transfering vibration that way??
 
I am using a pair of 1500's. I don't think they were making any noise at all before I connected them to the controller.
I've been using them for about 6 months.
 
I, too, can hear the change in pitch as it changes the flow from low to hi. I hear it much clearer from my basement below the tank versus when I'm actually in the same room as the tank.

This is for 2 1100's.

BTW, I used a power strip and hooked my 2 maximod 1200s to the controller along with the 2 1100's, and the controller ramped all 4 pumps up & down. It seemed to work just fine, but I only let it run this way for about an hour before I took the maximods off the controller. Figure I'd just use the controller as intended for a while before I start to abuse it... Also curious to see if others try this & what kind of results are seen.
 
I'm using one with two 1100's. I think the noise just may be that when they ramp down they make much less noise than when runing 100%. In either case they are vey quiet and I only notice it when everything else in the house is quiet and I'm right next to the tank. I think if they were just running 100% you wouldn't notice the difference.
 
With my seio's, you don't notice any noise when they are running at full force, it's just when the controller ramps them down and then back up, do I notice the noise.
I use a homemade magnet mount on my seio's and I have added some cushion between the acrylic and glass and that seems to help.
 
Wow, what a long thread.

Thanks to all who actually said things about the controller, and didn't just bicker. I'll be ordering mine soon.
