whereas I say "These boards are to educate people by sharing new ideas, sharing testing results, possibly saving money by using a DIY solution, and to better the hobby we all enjoy".

And yes, you're right...if I were Tamm, I would put a disclaimer that the controller should not be used with other pumps, since they did not test them on other pumps and they don't want the liability issue. But, that does not mean that the controller will not work with other pumps...just that you are on your own when going down the unexplored path.

That's why we all post here, so we can share our results to make the unexplored paths known to all :)

I was going to post a reply addressing ccoral's thoughts but I think you covered it nicely! Well done!
 
I had an issue with my 6060 locking up after power outtages and was told if the power came back on in a brown out situation it could cause that. The controller might cause the same situation. Be interesting to see what happens.

After all the time waiting to get a controller, I finally order and receive mine on 11/9/06. After programming the timer, I plug in my 1500 and nothing! I checked the cords and all seemed fine. I check the fuse and it's blown. :( I head over to Radio Shack and purchase a 4-pack of replacements as indicated on the controller box. Now, when I plug the controller in, nothing happens...no lights, nada. Fuse blown! All 4 times. :sad2: The vendor I purchased the unit from wants to hear what TAAM suggests before deciding on a plan of action. :mad2: Let's see how long TAAM takes to respond.

Very true! However, TAAM responded pretty quickly :eek: and asked that I send them the unit...."for service" :confused: It's on it way to them now.
 
Given the use of the mad + whatever else smileys you used I really don't expect a glowing review regardless of how TAAM takes care of your problem.
 
I didn't take pics, but there is not alot to the guts-- a circuit board and some wires-- and an led display-- I have mine temporarily mounted-- when I move it, I'll open it up and take some pics--
 
Just trying to figure out how they make this work. I would think in order to get a single phase AC motor to slow down, they need to adjust the frequency of the voltage. It would be interesting to get one on an oscilloscope.

So... who's tried these things on different pumps?

One guy on RC has been using this thing with two Seio 1100s and one Maximod connected to it and it seems to be working just fine!

Yep, that's me I think you're referring to. Been running the 2 1100s and 1 maximod 1200 on my seio controller for about 1.5 months now. All 3 are connected to a single power strip, which then is plugged into one of the 2 available outlets on the controller. Been working like a charm. I actually had 2 maximods plus the 2 1100s on the controller up until about 3 weeks ago & had no problems either. But decided to keep one running w/o controller just to see if there were any noticable differences...so far none and I'm not really expecting any...will likely hook the 2nd maximod back up to the controller in the near future.

So there is no chatter from the maximods right?

I'm very interested in buying one of these. Any chance the price will drop in the near future?
 
Maxijets do seem to vibrate more than the norm... so while they dont make alot of noise themselves, the mount you use for them can 'make it or break it'.
 
Any updates on the Sieo Controller? I am thinking buying of a wave making device and considering the sieo given the cost.

My controller has been working well with one 1100 and one 1500 since they came out. I would not recommend buying the old school wavemakers. As they can cause problems with pumps with higher water flows

Thanks for the update on the controller. It sounds like they will run other powerheads just fine too. That is a plus.

Anyone else have an update on the Seio Multicontroller?

Hey Sherman. Have you tried a MJ mod on that SEIO controller? I have one I could lend you to try if you're up to it :D
