seio's ROCK

i think a bmw or mercedes is more comparable to a seio, the tunze would be more like a bentley, or lambo

reg powerhead is a car under 25k
seio is a car under 50k
tunze is more like a car over 100k

Tunze = Lambo
Seio = 94 Civic with lambo doors and street fighter II fiberglass body kit
Rio = 87 Fiero with fiberglass ferrari body kit, flared fenders, 3 square wheels, and a donut.

brandon how can you compare a seio 820 to a tunze 6100.

Seio820=820gph
Tunze 6100=3170gph are u kidding me?

Of course the tunze is better.

If you have a big tank you need Seio 1500 and bigger.

o yea seios cant go into a wavetimer anyway...And like golfish said they arent worth it if you dose kalk and Ca heavily thats why your probably got loud overtime.

Seio 1500 are 40 bux used.

i think the hobby just became REALLY expensive. i, like golfish can remember any colony of sps selling at $45-50. everything is expensive but "REEF ON".

ask myself that a lot.................I've been doing this longer then most memebers here have been alive. I recall just a few years ago I could get 3 nice sps corals, I mean large corals for 75.00. The demand, mostly due to newbies who don't have a clue have pretty much kilt that.

There's no doubt the cost of things are high and I agree 1000% about the cost of the Tunze's, some of the higher grade skimmers and items like that....I truly believe that you get what you pay for but not with these high priced items...For me its more of "new toy" thing. I've always been into equipment and love to try out new stuff. I'm lucky enough to know a well known equipment maker so I get pretty sweet deals on some items.

I didin't mean to offend and probably should have worded it a bit different. Its just that this isn't the first time I've read a post from your regarding the cost of items...

Yinger, have a coke and a smile.

If you get sweet deals, then you can't relate to this. What I've found about this forum is that it doesn't encourage free thoughts. If you don't subscribe to the popular idea, you get flamed about it.

Honestly, if I wasn't setting up a tank for my parents because I thought they might enjoy it, I would probably have a getting out of hobby thread right now. So going by your suggestion, maybe I should find another hobby.

im comparing 4 seio 820s to 1 tunze. i had 2 1500s before to and the tunze blows those away to

I always see people replying just like this but they never say why a tunze is worth 10 X's the price a seio is...Please let me know what makes them 10 times better

I never said it was 10X better. Then again, the price is not 10X higher than a comparable seio... and to compare apples to apples you would have to use a seio 2600 to even come close and still be short. So then it is maybe 4x as expensive. What do you get for the cost?

1. Less electricity usage (55W vs 45W)
2. Controllable
3. More Flow (about 600GPH more in this case)
4. Holds more resale value
5. Rebuildable
6. Warning when clogged. The streams make a hell of a lot of noise instead of just burning up in your tank.
7. No restart issues

Now if I were to break this down in seio 820 terms it would require 4 to have the slame flow as a 6100. And then the 6100 would only be 1.5x as much.

1. Less powerheads in your tank
2. Less electricity usage (72W vs 45W)
3. Controllable
4. Increased resale value
5. Rebuildable
6. Warning when clogged
7. No restart issues

So meh... say what you will. But there is justification on the price, as much as the some would like to believe otherwise. I think my livestock alone is well worth the additional price (the warning when clogged).

Tunzees are horribly expensive...

I hbave 4 seio 1500's in my tank, and the corals do great... Justifying 900+ dollars for pumps... while getting 400+ electric bills every mo just didnt do it for me...

I like to think of myself as a low buck reefer... Sure seios clog.. and so do tunzees ( probly not as often )

I broke a shaft in one...( seio )

But remember.... it is a powerhead.

If it's just a powerhead then why did you want a set so bad? I don't think there's a comparison on the two, esp with the multicontroller. Either way, this is going nowhere, everyone's going to stick to what they have. But like i said earlier, what's worth it for one person may not be worth it to another.

ya honestly in my small tank i cant have a tunzee other wise i would deffinatly be saving for one,i understand they are expensive but still if u need one ull pay for it

enough said!

You guys compare 4 820's to one 6100 and say the tunze is better than the 4 seios....Not in my book....The 4 seios are going to have a much more turbulent flow than the one tunze which my corals love...

But hey the same people that buy tunze stuff also waste all their money on those ridiculous priced skimmers....lol

What kind of skimmers are you guys talking about????
The wasted money ones????

Oh man, this thread is going to go from bad to worse real quick. LOL

I was just wondering that's all. On the skimmers that is.
I still use Red Sea and Kent units. LOL
It was a simple question.
