What kind of skimmers are you guys talking about????
The wasted money ones????

HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I love u guys.

3 pages of awesome debating.

Anyway Xavier. Just do what Ying said earlier. Just grip the tank firmly and rock it back and fourth for the tunze wavbox action. It should last for about a minute;)

I agree with all who think Seio's rock. I love seio :). I have two in my tank now (seio 5200 , 5280gph) It create more turbulence than the tunze and my corals love it. Do not let Ying change your mind. Tunze for life :)

if you want i can create a stand that will rock the tank for you, so you don't have to stand there and do it manually.

and it would cost less than a tunze:D

REEFER714,
Any pictures of your tank? I'd like to see what it looks like. What are the dimensions? I thought about doing a 36x36x24 cube long ago and still might once I can get my oldest daughter to hit the road.

Hey Yinger I was comparison shopping for some of my friends have them. I went with the seios for the reason that I would rather spend $75! than $900.

I now have 4 seio 1500s in each corner pointing to the middle of the tank... you want to talk turbulence!!!

Seio is ok
Tunze is good but too expensive

I went thru 4 Seio and I hated, I have to take the pumps out push the impeller for it to work after turning it off. Sometimes I look at the Seio and wonder if it's working or not.

Tunze I love it, but too expensive. One of my snail went pass the screen and the impeller got stuck. The controller immediately peeping telling me something is wrong.

It's all depend on what/how you like it. Reef / saltwater required skill and knowledge. I don't think expensive equipment got anything to do with it. it's help out, but if you don't know how to use them, then it's worthless.

It has nothing to do with how much turbulence you have in the tank. Turbulence= stress. IMO the different betwen tunze and Seio is:

Tunze: wider spread
provide large amount of flow but not "strong and direct flow".
controllable speed with multiple option I.E pulse, interval1, 2 and sequential.
Pump speed varies from 30% to 100%. With night mode your pumps will slow down and maintain at 30%.
As far as durability it is up on the person who use the pump. If you do proper maintain yearly, it should last years.
That is all the good things about tunze, the bad thing is TOO EXPENSIVE.

Seio
affortable cost, strong direct flow "doesn't have wide spread", simple easy to use "plug and play".
Not controllable speed.
full blast day and night unless you put it on timer and shut it off at night.
With proper maintainance this pump will last a few years.
Higher heat transfer.

TURBULENCE is VERY VERY important for SPS! Turbulent random mixing action is much better and more of a simulation of the ocean environment than direct flow.

i've been snorkeling and diving in some tropical areas and I doubt its the turbulence that the corals like. And I doubt that 4 seios simulate the ocean. If you want simulation of the ocean current, take a look at the wavebox. i have yet to see something replicate the waves and movement it makes in an aquarium.

quick question...i just bought two seio 1100's for my 75gal and put them in the back corners aimed at the middle of front glass...i was just wondering is it better to have them more to the top pointing downward, or closer to the bottom pointing up??
