Seized Tunze 6100

My Stream has seized when I took it out of the tank the other day for cleaning!!!!!

I have tried soaking it for 3 days in white vingear, Citric Crystals & kettle descaler in a bid to free it with no luck...

On contacting the UK importer they said they had come across this just once before(!) & that they couldn't free it whatever they tried, in the end they tried drilling it, but it damaged the housing :mad2:

Anybody got any ideas or am I going to have to shell out for a new housing/impellor.... Not good since I only cleaned it totally 6 weeks ago :eek1: :eek2:

I would try the following. Brace the pump carefully under your feet (careful not to break the tabs or crush the cord) and grab the propeller and pull straight up on it. Drilling it is difficult but it can be done.

That just broke the plastic screw holding the prop on!

Just put the biggest metal bit I have (6mm) down the centre & still can't move it, off to a DIY store for a nice big bit if I can get one

Actually here is how I do it. First, I would next try driving a screw into the plastic in the senter of the magnet, a stainless steel deck screw is what i use. I use a pair of pliers and pull up on the screw. If you have to drill, you want to start with 4-5mm and work up 1-2 mm at a time. Use a depth stop set at about 25mm so you don't drill too deep. When you get up to about 16mm the magnet will start to crumble and then you can just break it out with a screw driver. Trying to just bore into the ceramic magnet will not work, it is way too hard and you will just ruin drill bits.
