The venue for the meeting is

More info can be found here: http://www.bostonreefers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=30278

Minor detail but I heard the guys at Marco Rocks (a BRS sponsor) are having a table there, taking the time to truck/trailer 2000# up for a special BRS group buy

Another N shore meeting of course
Wonderful
When was the last one on the north shore?

I dunno, haven't been to one in a while

But I guess Greg doesn't care about the rest of the club:

Yup...those darned north folks...just because they set up the meeting/venue, sign the agreements, spend the time finding the speaker, pickup the speaker at the airport, host/house the speaker for the weekend, drive the speaker around.....to think that they'd have the nerve to have the meeting close so that the speaker doesn't have to be driven all over the Boston area. The nerve...

So you're just complaining for complaining's sake, eh?

But I guess Greg doesn't care about the rest of the club:
Nice. Greg's a guy who routinely gives up his free time to volunteer to help out with the group. From the very beginning Greg opened his home to strangers offered them food and drink and showed people how to propagate corals in the home. Greg has spent many hours helping organize meetings. He got the BRS library started and lugged all those books around for years to meetings all over the state. He arranged for guest speaker visits, put the guest speakers up in his house, and carted them to meetings so we could all hear news about the hobby. He has done this for years.
So, do you really think Greg doesn't care about the group?
That was a really lame thing to say, whether you have an axe to grind or not.

It's one thing to say this is why we are doing this

It's another to do so with the attitude...TUFF!!

gotta agree with Moe on this one. Greg has and does the most for the club, he deserves to have attitude sometimes. and as far as the north shore I think he means the last south shore was last year.

Ahhh....once again the question of where the meeting should be comes up.

Just so we get the reality of things I've listed below the meetings that occured for 2006, sorry if you didn't come to the ones closest to you.

From the future, most recent planned, to first of the year:

1. Saugus general meeting - 16Sept
2. Framingham general meeting - 22July
3. Brockton party at Mauros - 03June
4. Newbie lecture by Moe et. al. - 16June (okay I got the order wrong)
5. Bellingham general meeting - 28May
6. Windham, NH party at Flighty's - 29April
7. Framingham general meeting - 18March
8. Nashua general meeting - 25Feb
9. Quincy general meeting - 28Jan

I left off Dawn's party in RI by accident. I think though in looking at the map, there is no significant bias to having north or south meetings. If anything, the west is favored, it is in general an easier location for many to get to.

Hi everyone, I'm sure what Scuba Dave meant to say was, "Wow, Mitch Carl is coming to town and he is one funny and interesting guy. I wouldn't miss this for the world! North Shore, shormf shore, I'm going!" Or something close to that.

Anyway, on a more serious note, I see that I am speaking at noon. Which is awesome cause I realized early on after booking my ticket for the 16th, that that Saturday is the Nebraska/USC game! I know, I know, all of you Husker fans are dying to see it too. Greg had mentioned going out to eat after the meeting. I don't know if you have a usual place or not, but I propose a nice sports bar w/ some big T.V.'s to watch yours and my Huskers kick a little Trojan butt! C'mon, you'd do it for Juilian. Whadda say?

Mitch

Boomer Sooners rule!!!!!

Oh yeah Hey Mitch Glad you are coming to Boston!!

Hey Guys.

I'm new to reef keeping and was thinking about going to the meeting. I have not joined BRS yet -- but interested in doing so.

If I do go -- what happens at these things? What should I expect? What should I bring? Is clothing required? (kidding)

You are guaranteed to meet lots of interesting people who are more than willing to take you under their wing and share what they know with you.
You are guaranteed (with your paid membership) to get a discount at most of the club's sponsors.
You are also guaranteed to learn something for close to nothing about a hobby you are obviously interested in learning more about.
You are guaranteed to become part of a club that has an unending volume of opinions and the most varied of any that I know of.
You are also guaranteed to walk away with a smile on your face and the feeling you are so glad you joined such a great club made up of such an incredible group of people who genuinely care about you and the reefing hobby.

Any second thoughts about joining?
