September Collecting Trip!

I was the only one from NCPARS that did collecting at more than one location so I probably saw more than most. I collected with a LIRA member over by the bridge. I know that he caught a lion fish, 2 butterflies and some other neat critters. I got some snails, a seahorse, urchins, goby, and pipefish. It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing it again next year. I have noticed that the seahorse is doing great through the journey home. He is in much better shape than I expected and seems to be very durable. I guess that is from dealing with the North East weather.

thanks,

Rick

Cool finds. My buddy caught a sea horse the week prior, get it to me, but I dont think its eating. I know they pick on the rock but Ive been trying to hand feed it Mysis, and other frozen foods. Any suggestions?

Todd told me to not feed him for 2 days and get him good and hungry. He said when they get really hungry they will start taking the prepared/frozen food without too much of a problem. I had the same question you are asking me for Todd and that was his answer. I was worried about him eating well and staying alive. I will be trying to feed him for the first time later tonight. Todd said to totally forget about the live foods and trying to convert the seahorse over. He said that would be a waste of time, he said to just get them hungry enough to want whatever is given.

thanks,

Rick
