Sequence Dart closed loop on 60g tank? :o)

I am in the process of deciding what hardware I need for my closed loop. I was thinking about a mag18 thru a Oceans Motion S-Squirt 4way.

Another Idea was a Sequence Dart thru a manifold with 6-8 outlets at 3/4" but I was thinking 3600gph is too much flow for a 60g tank.

Suggestions? :D

This is the 4way I would design.

I vote for the dart. You can always ball valve it back some if its too much. Its twice the flow as a mag18 cheaper to run and will not make as much heat.

How about a dart thru a 4way? :)

3600gph thru a 3/4" nozzle is asking for trouble i think.

try the sequence snapper. i had that on my 60 cube and it was awesome

i had it going to two 1in bulkheads and then split in two 3/4 locline. tons of turbulent flow.

I'm putting a Snapper on my 16 gallon cube next week! I just have to sort out the plumbing details, I have 2 3/4 returns I will be pushing it through and it will also feed a UV filter and I may possibly tee off for a small amount of flow through a 'fuge.

I'm hoping when I'm done I can crack open a valve and blow water across the room!

how about a dart with a squirt 2-way. you could run 2 nozzles at a time and that would give you 1800 gph out of each outlet which isnt that bad

Interesting idea.

The reason I wanna go 4way is because I plan to upgrade to a bigger tank and want my hardware to be upgradable.

use y locline on the outputs to spead it around instead of cone ends

Yeah interesting idea. Thanks!

a sequence snapper on your 16gallon will be spewing water out of it. unless you restrict flow so much that its not worth even buying it. think about it before you buy

don't forget about head pressure and fittings

Yeah for sure.

It's going to be 2ft below water level so not much loss.

Another question: Can a Dart be throttled back without damage to the pump?

they can be throttled back quite a bit per the mfg. i had my snapper with a 1.5 intake and 1.5 out reduced to one inch pvc. and it moved tons of water. on a 60gallon i highly doubt you need a dart but you could get one if you plan on upgrading tanks soon. i had my snapper on my 120 and it moved a lot of water. i put the plumbing back to the original intake and output. i just hooked up my dart tonite and love it already. sick flow

We will see. It can be restricted down to 300GPH at 75watts and be ok. It will have more duty than just a return pump also so some of the flow will be eaten up there. I already have it so it is a bit late to do much more thinking!

if youve got it thats fine. it can be restricted. i was just saying if you wanted to save money now. but it will be great for when you upgrade in the future as we all do. i upgrade every six months. i started with a 12g nano and now im up to 120g

it wouldn't be anything near that. darts are circulation pumps that need huge outlet piping to keep their flow anywhere near the 3600 rating. restrict it and it drops like a rock.
