Sequence external pump "Snapper"

Wow, not a bad price either................... 2" input & 1.5 output...with certain reefers reducing that to 1", that's gonna create some serious flow!!!!

Now maybe the competition will step up to the plate..........Can you say "Pump War?"

Steve :D

I will take anything that will use less watts :) I was testing my Dart and it rated 98W too but it was not pushing and water. Does the pump draw more Watts when pushing h2o?

I am even considering BK 200 internal :)

For sure I am looking for deal on Tunze 6060 less then $130 new. I hear it is about $100 per 6060 for the LRS.

I hear Tongs will be having sale and maybe sell for $130? Anyone else?

reducing that pump less then 1.5" is going to drop the flow way way down. I'd guess and say 1" pipe at 5 feet will be like 1000 gph. The numbers look pretty much like the Dart.

Although it's contrary to what you might think, as you constrict the outflow on these pumps and drop the flow, the electrical consumption drops. So the more you flow, the more electicity you consume.

FWIW, on the dart, if you drop from 1.5" to 1" output you halve the flow. You need to go from 1.5" to 3 1" lines to avoid constricting the outflow and maintain flow rates. These are flow pumps, not pressure rated pumps. They are great for flow applications, but you need to put a little bit of thought into the plumbing to avoid being dissapointed.

Also if it's anthing like the dart, the real world electrical consumption at max flow will be more than what sequence claims. Still very, very good numbers, but higher than that 98w claim.

I'm sure it'll be similar to previous sequence products. It'll probably draw real world around 120 at full flow and probably flow what is claimed.

If you want a cool pump for closed loop applications save your pennies for the polario....

For most applications, IMO the dart and snapper are overkill for returns. I am of the philosophy that you don't and shouldn't run more than 5-7x through your sump. And as little as 2-3x is ok. So while there's nothing "wrong" with the dart and snapper etc...IMO it is overkill and just leads to having to deal with sump noise and bubbles.

The polario is an inline pump that can alternate between the intake and output. It is essentially a tube with the rotor/turbine in the middle. it can alternate the flow going from left to right or vice versa. Designed for closed loops expressly. And for large tanks. I think the smaller unit flows 10,000 gph, though I believe an even smaller unit is planned for. Price point is very competitive as well.

This sounds like a really good option for me. I have two hammerheads on my 550g reef. One runs a series of eductors. Flow is ok but not phenominal.

I have been considering switching them out for the large sequence pressure rated pumps so the eductors will really scream. (they came out 2 months after I put in the hammerheads:mad2: ). But re-plumbing is really no fun at all.

Who makes the polario and when will it be available? What kind of electricity draw will it have?

For those that have questions on the SNAPPER....

Snapper = Dart with smaller impeller. All other dimensions are identical, same parts, same everything, just smaller impeller....so says Reeflo authorized distributor.

Herpevet, the Polario is from....TAAM. I expect it'll actually be a pretty good pump. People don't have much trouble with the hyperflows or the SEIOs when maintained reasonably. What's cool about this thing is aside from CA deposits....it self cleans be alternating directions....

Electrical draw I've heard is very, very good, BUT I won't trust the numbers 'til the thing is hooked up to a killawatt in my hands....

I can testify that Chuck does work...there are 24 hours in the day...5 hours for work, 3 hours for the kids, 5 hours for sleep, 4 hours for RC and 7 hours for his fish tank....it's the same schedule for me! :)
