Seriatopora burnt at the bottom

The base of my Seriatopora burnt at the bottom, any ideas why it's happens and how to stop it.

Are you talking about the black growth or the white color of the under side (that's common, from shading).

Doesnt seem to be anything out of ordinary here. Seeing as it's on your sand bed it's not going to receive max light and will have some shading issues. Die off will occur on the inner most and least exposed branches.

Tissue recession at the base can be from lack of flow-or a few other things- that hystrix is not dense enough for shading issues yet
