Seriatopora - only - losing flesh

Any thoughts as to what would cause ALL my seriatoporas, and ONLY the seriatoporas, to be losing flesh overnight? It's mainly coming off the tips but also some main-body loss. I know I had a small alk spike (7.3-7.4 up to about 8-8.1) but that seems to have been it. I may have had a modest spike in nutrient levels after kicking up a bit of detritus moving some rocks out of the system however I can't confirm, I need a new nitrate test. Previous NO3 levels were 3-5ppm.

Everything else - digis, etc - all seem happy enough with decent PE and no flesh loss.

Alk spikes have decimated my birds before while only aggravating acros. For a "starter" SPS they seem ultra sensitive at times.

Do yo uhave change carbon or something like that?

Mine have the same trouble just after changing all (carbon, PO4 absorber ...) maybe water too clear too fast ... lighting burning if they are just under the lights?

Nope. Just took a bunch of rock out for a tank transfer before moving my frags racks over. I was going to match the new system to the old and Boom. New tank is doing the same thing, go figure.

Well whatever the change was thats would probably be the cause id guess nutrient related maybe when you moved the rock it released something potentially toxic from the sandbed.

No sand. No idea what is driving my alk up either, it's higher today yet and I haven't touched the tank. Both tanks are higher actually. No idea what is causing it. My pink seri took a brutal hit but the others seem to have stabilized this afternoon. Here's to hoping.

No kalk. I have been manually dosing 2-part in accordance with my recorded daily losses, following a pretty strict routine (I even have alarms in my phone for daily reminders). The system has been nice and rather steady for a little while then this.

FWIW: It was a nutrient issue.

I was out of town for 4 days so nothing was done to the tank, it was left perfectly alone except for throwing in a bit of vinegar as a precaution. The system slimed up pretty good and tissue loss stopped pretty much immediately. I have some burnt tips on my Bird of Paradise and a couple other pieces but otherwise everything looks good - nothing hanging off the bare skeleton, etc.
