wow, according ot the link above and the link from the DD, same size fish, just the mis-bar, and it cost 50% more? i guess people like something that looks different :D
 
Regal angels are not that rare; surely you can find a nice specimen in a store or at another vendor besides this one; it is not like LA are the only ones that deal with this fish, and they are not the only ones that know how to prepare a specimen for shipment or for a home aquarist, given their sometimes difficult to feed nature.
 
Regal Angels are not rare, but EATING Regals are.

LA does have them eating before they ship out. They do QT and treat them for parasites and they do offer a 14 day gaurentee...


There are good reasons people like to buy a difficult to keep fish from LA DD. ;)


That $89 Regal drop ships from a west coast supplier. Guarenteed to have atleast some form of parasites. Almost guarenteed to not eat and chances of long term success are probably 1 in 4... at best! (I feel that I am being generous here, 1 in 5+ wouldnt suprise me a bit.)

I have had great luck with LA DD and feel a lot more comfortable buying a regal from them but I would still not expect more then 2 in 4 regals even coming from those guys to make it long term.

Maybe LA should put some fish up for auction on EBAY for about three days, it would at least give everyone shot at getting a certain fish, and LA might even make more money than what they are asking.
It takes me about 45 miniutes to an hour to drive home from work and they always seem to post the new fish while I am driving home. I asked LA about posting new listings no earlier than 7:00pm, but no deal.
 
Its actually surprising the way LA does the DD sometimes. That regal would have sold just as fast at 350 dollars. The DD offers very nice fish at solid prices, but given how high the demand is for a variety of fish, its a wonder they have not had the savvy to increase their supply and prices just a hair more. If you have 50 people all desperately reloading the page to snag one fish, you are missing a golden opportunity.

they are making enough on that fish priced where it is; after that it becomes plain disgusting profit levels. And I don't see LA as that type of company either.

But aside from that, I still hold to my original argument that there are other locations where one could find a beautiful specimen; IIRC there was a thread not too far back where a well known member bought a baby Regal from their LFS, and to my knowledge, is still alive and doing well.

true...but what i like about DD is that they will offer the 14 day guarantee on what is generally seen as a delicate fish by most other vendors and most other vendors offer no guarantee other than arrive alive. plus i know that all DD fish are being quarantined. it may be more but to me to have the fish live in the long run im willing to spend more.
 
Would anyone like to fess up to buying this fish? I am just curious to how it it doing...

just hang in there and youll get one, there are certain fish that seem to sell very fast for a while then slow down for a couple fish then sell fast again..regals being one of them, along with several other large angels such as scribbled,blue lines,personifers queens and certain tangs like achillie(sp?) powder blues, clown and sohals for examples it seems like the one iam looking for are the hot fish that week and after i am fast enough on DD the next one stays up for a couple days..lol..or after i have to spend my fish money some where else the fish i have been refreshing for every day for a month comes up and stays then sells the day before i have replaced my spent fish money..lol
 
I dont believe I have or will ever see a Regal Angel stay on LA DD for multiple hours, let alone days. :)
