Setting foot

That Guy
A couple days ago my Sebae Anemone died. He got into a rock island and I couldn't get him out for a couple days and when I did, he was fairly deflated and had a large wound on his tube. I bought a new one two days ago and think it is actually a bubble tip anemone with purple tips saying as the tentacles are more like a BTA. He has yet to set foot and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to if there is anything I can do to help it. My powerhead and True Percs keep flipping him over.

Thank you in advance

It's not a BTA, it's a sebae, or technically, a Heteractis Crispa anemone. It's in pretty bad shape, I can tell because they aren't supposed to be white and the tentacles get short and bubbly when they are starving. The poor health is probably why it hasn't attached yet.

You need to get something to separate it from the clowns and flow until it can attach. Some people use the crates you buy strawberries in, for example, and lay it over the anemone. You also need to try to feed it a very small piece of food once it attaches. If it won't attach and it won't eat, it may not survive long.

If the other one died, I would want to get the tank in good shape before introducing a new one. As Bradley said, it's H. crispa you have there. What are your water parameters? How long had you had the other one? That species is a poor shipper and often fail to acclimate to tanks. They are definitely less apt to successfully get beyond the acclimation period than say a BTA. In my case, my crispa wouldn't attach long-term in the sand, but when it found a hole in a piece of live rock about the diameter of the anemone's column, it attached and stayed put. They are often found in the live rock in both the wild and aquariums.

I don't have the numbers right now as I am at work but can get back with those at home. My last one was doing great. Ate great, attached to some LR, True percs were loving it. He fell into the middle of an island of LR and I couldn't get him out for a few days (I am a cop and work 14 hr days and didn't have the time to pull all the LR out to get to him so had to wait til my day off). When I finally got to him, he had a deep wound in his tube about 2" in diameter that looked pretty nasty. I am thinking the stress of where he was made him vulnerable to one of my fish (I have a flame angel in there) or something (no I do not have any nasty hitch hikers in my tank) injuring it and I BELIEVE that is what caused him to parish :(

I do appreciate the help
I just got it 3 days ago and it is starting to extend the tentiles out much more than when I bought it. I will use bradleyms' technique but on some LR to help it attach.
