Setting up 24 Gallon Aqua Pod

I got the AP 24 Gallon in today.
I already modified the lights from the two 32W to two 40W. I also added the stealth 60mm fans in there.

Should I leave the sponge, bio balls, and ceramic rings in the aquarium while it is cycling? I have Filter Floss, Chemi-Pure and Purigen ready for after it cycles.

Here is what I have in it so far:
20 lbs. of Fiji Pink Live sand. (should I add more?)
Maxi Jet 1200
Visi Therm Stealth 100W Heater
Coralife Digital Thermometer

My question is that I have done my research on this site and others and I have read that most AP 24 only come with one fan. I was surprised when I opened mine up and saw two.

I would leave the sponge in the back chamber right behind the overflow to catch debris while it cycles. Just rinse it weekly.

I did buy 25lbs of Marshall Islands and Fiji live rock, but it is uncured. I have it curing in a bucket with pump and heater.

Should I add more sand?
What should I put in the two chambers?

For what it's worth, I used 20lbs in my aquapod and it seems to be doing well for over 10 months now.

In the rear chambers, I pulled all of the bio balls and sponges out and added a skimmer. I bought the sapphire aquatics skimmer which fits in the right chamber. Works pretty well.

Good luck and enjoy the new pod!

I to would put the rock in the tank to cycle, that way you can try to arrange the rocks how you like them.

I started with 20# of sand and it was fine for a while. At around the 6 month mark I noticed my sandbed wasn't as deep, maybe the sand settles or was going behind my rock so I added 5#. For right now though 20# is good. Who knows maybe you won't need to add sand to yours.

I also bought the HydorFlo Wave Maker. I can't seem to get it attached to my AP. Is it supposed to go flush against the back? If so, how do you take the stock tube out to make this happen.

I went ahead and put the LR in today. I will try to post pics tonight of the aquascaping.
What should I put in my back two chambers?
Right now I have the MJ1200 and Stealth Heater in chamber 1 and one of the stock sponges and some carbon to help with the LR smell.
I have some LR rubble left over from making my LR smaller. Should I put it into chamber 2? Loose or in a bag?

I also liked the JBJ stand much better than the AquaPod stand, so I got the JBJ and made a custom top for it.

its looking good......i like the aquascaping alot........

i just thought i would comment on the looks....im not sure about all those compliacated questions cuz i only have a 6 gal....

but i like it alot

yes, the JBJ stand looks real good. I hope you are not planning to keep any kind of tang in that tank right. If and when I start my tank, I will be putting some clowns, some small gobys, flame angel and maybe a firefish . So I want a slightly bigger tank. And do introduce the fish slowly or you will have itch problem in tank. And it will cost you a lot in dead fish. That was my problem when I started 5 yrs back.

And yeah once again how wide is your tank from front to back?

is that really the best stand for the tank...in the pic it looks as if the bottom glass is the only thing resting on the stand itself...is that good to put all that weight on the glass like that???

i also like the aquascaping! great start!

I cut a new top for the stand that leaves about a 1/8" extra all the way around the aquarium. There is nothing resting on the glass.
