Setting up frag tank. help!!!!

Do Zoos need anything but good water? I have An Orbit PC light and HOB filter and maxi jet. Thinking of putting frags in there without sand or live rock.

Will this work? Do they need any other biology short term or long?

Just be sure to keep ALK in good range and I would keep the frags close to the PC light in good flow if you want good color and growth. Be sure to change the bulb every 6 months or you will see you zoas lose color.

The tank needs to cycle if thats your question. What you could do is add some liverock to the tank and let it cycle. Once there is enough benificial bacteria on the glass, on the racks and in your hob filter you could remove the LR and then add your frags.

does it need to cycle? I was told corals don't need the bacteria to live on as do fish.

Corals produce waste so you will need some type of biofiltration.
