Hello I’m pretty new to this thread... I live about 1 mile away from New River Middle and I’m Born and raised in SW Fort Lauderdale. Anyways I'm in the process of putting together my 300g reef tank and once it's cycled if any one has any donations it will greatly be apreachated. Below is what I was thinking about for the plumping if you have any input please let me know

Meaning first introduce yourself then make a move for the frags

welcome looks good.

OK - a couple of real quick thoughts.

2 - 2" overflows is probably overkill.
T'ng off the overflow and going directly to the pump intake may be inviting bubbles right back into your display.
Skimmer would be more effecient with water directly from the overflow rather than after the fuge.
A 4 bubble baffle on the fuge is probably overkill.
UV - optional

sorry about being short tempered but all my other posts on Reef Central i never get any responses. Id love to goto the next meeting but it's the same night as Dropkick Murphys at Revolution

2 - 2" is fine I have the same thing on my tank just in case one gets clogged. is all your flow from that one dolphin pump? if it is your in for trouble and it isn't efficient. all you want going through your sump is what your skimmer can handle or 3-5x your sump. I would set up a closed loop over the top with that pump and add a small pump for your return. 4800 is about 16x turnover so a bit more wont be a problem and having less crashing water going though your sump as well as the oh S***T factor. I have only a seq 4200 at about 10 head so close to 1500gph as my return. I then have a dart on closed loop and 2 tunze 6100's for flow for a total of 12k gph .
What skimmer and lights are you going to use?
Hope this helps and welcome and good luck
Joe

Yea instead of 2" overflows i'm thinking about plumping everthing with 1.5" pipe. The reason that I have a bypass going from the overflow to the pump is i only want to have one pump, and i wanted to limited the flow through the refug. i went with a 3 baffle bubble trap on the final design

You might be better off using the middle section of the sump for your water intake area and left side as your fuge. You can regulate the water that flows through the fuge area and back into the intake section with either a small pump or a T off of your overflow.

For anyone that would like to help me this week with the plumping i will give you as much beer as you would like to drink of corse you must be of age ;) or at least close enough.

What versed????? I had 5mg of that on Tues to be sedated to have my wisdom teeth pulled, I've never tripped so hard in my life!!!!..... Sorry but i still will not let you come close to needing any lube ;)
