I just recently when to the LFS and bought a fish labeled as a yellow eyed kole tang it is about the size of a quarter. I put it in my 75 gallon mixed reef and it has been doing very well eating all the algea. Now i thought that the colors on the fish were washed out because it had been eatting brine shrimp for the last month in a tank with no algea in it. As it got health it turned blue and yellow like this

Now i think this fish is a striped bristletooth and my brother says it is a juvinile yellow eyed kole tang and will turn its regular colors in a year or so. I want to know you opinion. What do you guys think. And if someone does have a adult striped bristletooth, are they as good looking as the kole?

The web site that i have provided is a spitting image of the tang I have, exactly. And also much nicer quality than i coud come up with.

Another thing is what will this fish look like when it does become an adult

kole tangs dont change color like that. I have seen a ton of them about the size of a quarter and are the same colors as a full grown kole.

I thought juvi kole's are yellow, or is that just a color morph? I saw a small yellow one while snorkling in Hawaii.

juvi koles are yellowish.. but not all yellow. The tail is actually very yellow. Body is more a light brown with yellow hint to it.

Im sure you have the fish posted. Kole's dont usually look like any other fish... lol

to avoid any confusion why not just post a pic of y our fish, not a fish that looks like it online. i think that will help a lot just mho
