The new doser offers all manner of interactive goodies, blue tooth enabled offering complete connectivity, Apps available, software included. No need for a Profilux as a stand alone or connect to your controller for enhanced connectivity.

Temp sensor port

GHL the leading name in aquatic technologies just surpassed themselves!

Full report here from reef builders

This doser incorporates a lot of new features that set it apart from all the other dosers on the market today. Starting with a new look, the Doser 2 body uses a mixture of plastic and aluminum. The top has a semi-transparent GHL Logo that is backlit with an LED. The idea of using the LED is to add a quick indicator that all is well or not. If the Doser is glowing blue, then you know all is ok. If it glows red, you'll be aware that there's an issue. For example it can indicate that you are out of dosing fluid. There is also an audible alarm to help alert the aquarist.

There is no buttons on the unit to control the Doser 2. Interfacing with the controller is done via Bluetooth, USB, and of course via the ProfiLux Controller. The great thing about Bluetooth is that you can program and even manually dose via your smartphone or tablet. By simply pressing on the pump icon on the screen, the doser will start dosing that numbered doser. And the web interface will let you know how much fluid is left.

There is also a temperature sensor port, allowing you to measure and monitor the temperature with just the dosing unit. Temp values will be reported on their new software and web interface. There is a level port, which allows you to add float switches for auto top-off or even program small daily water changes. If you need more than 4 dosers, you can daisy chain up to 2 slave units making the total number of dosers to 16.

This is a welcome update to their previous dosing pump. We really like the idea of monitoring and controlling the doser from any web enabled device. The additional touches like the LED glow indicator, auto-top off float switches, and water temp monitoring are a nice touch to set it apart from other dosing units. Again, this is just a prototype. No pricing yet, but they hope to make it available in August of this year. Going back to the web interface and software, GHL has done an extensive update in this department. The new software interface is designed to handle all of their major products. From one application, you can control your GHL Mitras, the Dosing System, and the ProfiLux controller. One interface to rule them all. This really simplifies the process of checking on and updating all facets of your reef. The fact that you can also do all of this from a smartphone or tablet seals the deal. They expect to release these software and web updates shortly after Interzoo.

we have a really bling booth planned balloons and everyyyything man!

But seriously we will have masses to show you at Macna its going to be huge for GHL this year!

Who wants to share their thoughts on what the CP port is for?

I have an educated hunch, but would not be fair to share ;)

What?? No manual dosing button? I like buttons. Will the slave units look the same or be like the original or will GHL be making both?

There will be one unit, you will decide if its a slave or if its a stand alone depending on how you wish to control it, this way for those that dont have a ProfiLux controller and in the future decide to these clients no longer have to invest in a new doser also.

It makes the unit so much more flexible and viable for the mass audience.

I am not sure in manual buttons will be added, most feedback we get is that users now want to do anything manual through an ipad or similar to be honest. But i dont have an actual physical answer if they will be added.

Yes any combo just like the previous doser did.

This is a prototype so the finer details will not be launched probably until Macna when the retail launch takes place

The Doser 1 will remain the main stay product still available for those that want a simple dosing system, the Doser 2 will be the Pro version.

perfect. I am looking for a 3 head and with the temp probe it would be ideal for my frag system rather than buying a full controller! I'm very excited about this.

The important facts right now are

Compact design - Smaller than competing units, even though it has more functionality.

modular (1-16 pumps) up to 4 pumps in one body.

Made from material that wont rust (Metal whether coated or not in a saline environment especially in cabinets should be a concern)

No need to buy a new doser if you later on wish to buy a ProfiLux controller.

ATO port
Temperature Port

Both of the above have been asked for from our clients for a long time, this was one of the first things that was set in stone way back at the start of development 2 years ago.

Oh and GHL's insane renowned and proven reliability :)

any of the dosers could be you could assign all of them if you wanted to, it also can be used for auto water changes.

Okay so now I am confused. I already have a stand alone unit, So if I buy the new unit I can use it as a slave with my SA. But if I get the new doser, can I use it as a master and my SA as a slave and use an iPad to control both or will I have to buy 2 new dosers just to get the software functionality?

Hi
No you could not use your existing SA as a slave. We could potentially supply you with a slave board to go into the back of it and convert it to a slave however. The screen would be redundant however.

I am not sure of all the details of old slave units working with new, I am sure they will GHL never leave users out in the cold. However without mods no an SA can not be slave.

So basically put in an optical or contactless level sensor and you have an ATO without the need for a full Profilux Box?

That would be great as there would also be no need to buy an expensive separate ATO like the ELOS osmocontroller.

Those are some amazing features! Can't wait to see what the final product looks like and see them in use across the country.

Good thread Michael.

Exactly that, or auto water change or both ;)

Thanks Allen, I know these will be highly popular we have been flooded with requests for pre orders already and first release likely wont be until September!
