O.K. I've just finished curing some LR in an old 3 gallon tank and thought, Hey I could keep an awesome mantis in here. So I procededed to look at the site and then saw the mantis "sex" pictures and thought it would be awesome to have a pair does anyone know how to sex them? Could I keep two in a 3 gallon?

actually after seeing "tim's pad" im gonna go with a 10 gallon with all the LR I'm curing itll be better in there

The quick answer is no. There are stomatopods that pair for life, but none of these are smashers and while they may coexist for a while, sooner or later they will fight. In a large tank with lots of tight fitting cavities, they may be able to reach a stand-off, but in a smaller system, the results are almost always bad.

Alright then I guess Ill just have one lol and I think Im going to use the tank I have because its a pretty awesome 3 gallon just one more question what type stays small and looks good? Do the clowns get very big? I havent been able to find a concrete answer about that one.

Clowns is what some call peacocks. They can get anywhere from 6" to 8". They get mature at around 4" and grow the rest of the way pretty slow. You would need atleast a 10 gallon for those. A N.Wenn would probably be your best bet for a 3. There pretty common in florida LR. Look around at some of the threads I've got some pics posted of mine. HTH
