Sexy shrimp eating Zoas?

I swear if it isnt one thing its another! I am finally getting my closed up zoas to open again and I go in and see a sexy shrimp on a small patch of Zoas eating it. Well looks like he was eating it. Just 1 hr before I had checked the tank and the Zoas in question were open and happy. Now they havent opened since the shrimp was on them:mad2:

If a sexy gets hungry will it eat my Zoas? or even if not hungry will it eat my zoas? I thought they were safe.
:eek1:

I have 5 sexy shrimps in my tank, although they will clean round polyps & eat dead/decaying ones I've never seen them ripping good polyps....

Of course like anything else in the tank that touches a polyp it bound to close as they walk over it :)

Cheers Shelton.

Dust,

I know exactly what you mean! Those little buggers will seemingly reach into the opening of a closed zoa to pick at it. That being said, I've never lost a zoanthid to their picking. I actually like to put new larger colonies near them so they do a bit of house keeping and clear out the dead zoas.

Yeah after watching them for a few days I have come to realize its just cleaning. It may have been a harsh cleaning on the first day because the Zoos wouldnt open for a few days but they are back to being open and ok looking again.
The rest of the zoos they have cleaned are ok tho.
Thanks for the responses all!
